Socialism works because it is like a mouse trap. The mouse sees the cheese but not the spring-loaded bar.
Yep, envy. When I was in the Air Fore, I had a friend I met at Wallace Air Station in the Philippines. She had just put on captain and was younger than me. We were both air weapons controllers, both good at our jobs. But because she was pretty and cute, she could hang out with all the fighter pilots. Eventually she went to the Fighter Weapons School and married a general. After that, she rocketed up the chain. The next time I saw her at Langley, she was a lieutenant colonel who had just been selected for full bird. I on the other hand, could not flirt with generals and I ended my career as a captain. It was an early retirement, but better than passed over and kicked out with nothing. I felt envy, as this girl made general, firs tone star, then two, and all the way to four. We had been the same, but because of her looks and skills she was a general, and because I only had skills I was a captain. But then I found out that her step-daughter had been killed in a flying accident at the Air Force Academy, and then I felt shame for my envy, for even though I never made major God had not put me through the death of a child. I envied her no more, and prayed for her all the good things she deserved. The grass is always greener. And that’s the black hole of envy. It eats everything arund it…just like socialism does.
Trust me, Edward Stowers, motivated women are JUST as pissed, if not more so, than you are about women with the looks, not necessarily with the rest of the qualifications, getting ranked above us. I have given up caring about it now as the whole system has gotten so incredibly out of whack that the most motivated and brightest are left behind in a sea of socialist monotony (BOTH genders…. started to say all… but that is how out of whack it truly is).
Socialism is an IDEOLOGY that KILLS!
Why no mention of that book of “myths, fables and fairy tales” from which come the words, “Thou shalt not covet”? Why? Because a world without God is a world of autonomous, self-created beings, deluding themselves into believing their own evolution gives them the right to set their own moral standards. So as unbelievers go, why do they consider covetousness bad? Because that same book of “myths, fables and fairy tales,” says in Romans 2:14-15, “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)” Romans 7:7 goes on to explain, “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.” It’s unfortunate the Bible is no longer used as an “argument from authority.” Instead, the fallible words of fallible, finite men who weren’t there and don’t know everything has become the standard.
I just posted a similar comment above before I got down the list to your post… I very much agree.
Bill, please lighten up on the histrionics. You don’t have to oversell us with your anger. We already agree with you, but you risk alienating some folks, particularity parents such as I, who would like to share your thoughts with our children. Now I can’t.
Indignantly angry Bill is effective Bill.
Do you need a safe space for your children? (eeks)
I believe it was the language rather than the histrionics… However, I would agree with Colonel K that sometimes Bill goes overboard with the emotion of anger. Emotion is what the left uses to argue with, not logic.
I don’t purposely expose my children to profanity. It isn’t necessary to make a cogent argument and it’s a poor substitute for etiquette.
Great job Bill. Words like greed and envy (2 of the worst, most destructive emotions in the human psyche) seem to have lost their meaning in society today. These words have been sneakily replaced by words like “equality” and “fairness” which are making America crazy.
Since the topic of “socialism” has come to the mainstream in our culture here in the US, I’ve wondered why I haven’t heard any reference to: “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not covet that which is thy neighbor’s” in any of the discussions.
I seem to recall Ben Shapiro’s shadow passing over once but the topic wasn’t actually brought to the forefront of the discussion.
Spot on!
Bravissimo, Bill!
Best short, true explanation of socialism ever!
