I recently got into a friendly argument about impeachment with a friend of mine. His main argument is not necessarily about whether or not the president committed an impeachable offense, but rather, the defense. Essentially he said that the defense argued that if the president believes his re-election is in the best interest of the US, he can do anything to get re-elected. I hadn’t seen that argument, and was curious what the wonderful degenerates here thought of it.

I think that was a mis-quote taken out of context but said partially by Alan Dershewitz (sp?).
I think a candidate would do a great many things if he or she thought their own election is the best for the electorate but then that’s the primary reason why anyone runs.
I think it mostly comes down to “he’s guilty of not being one of us” and “making us look bad”.
IMHO Trump has done nothing that any other president has not done, in fact less than most. The media and the democrats have blown the charges up way beyond what actually happened. This has been such a deceptive s-show by many that I am not at all surprised that so many are deceived.
