Two thoughts: (1) This is a Chuck Yeager moment. Astounding it’s taken so many decades to get here. (2 )If I lived in an earthquake-prone area, I’d want this jet pack to get me away from the broken, burning buildings and crushed highways of the “Big One.”
When you mentioned this on Backstage, I immediately looked it up. I work at a company very heavily laden with engineers. I had a steady stream of co-workers coming in to watch. One made what I thought was a very interesting comment.
He saw the Jetman Dubai logo, we saw that he was French, and my friend says, no he’s an American, he was just born in France.
Others have said similar things, possibly Ronald Reagan among them. I always think of that when someone uses the TWANLOC label on someone or I hear/read about things like this.
You might be born here but that doesn’t make you American, and you might be American in spirit even if you are not, or never get, here. Insightful of your co-worker to spot that.
And he’s not born here. Became a citizen in the past 10 months.

Great segment. Along those lines, I had a minister that was a close friend (she since passed) and we were discussing life after death. She asked me what I wanted to do after death? Interesting question! I thought on it and told her that I would like a starship to go explore this grand universe. She said she would put in a good word for me. I trust that she did as I will need all the help I can get! LOL

Funny side note – I watch a number of different YouTube channels for news & generally save this site for when the whole family’s home since I know there won’t be any foul language. As a result the wife & Little Bob are a lot more familiar with you guys than they ever wanted to be (see my post here from just after Thanksgiving when I proposed a “Virtual President DVD case” Christmas tree topper).
Anywho, whatever the context, whenever we mention anyone named Scott, Little Bob immediately says, “Scott Ott!”
