Last night (April 7, 2020), I took this pic with my Fujifilm Finepix S1, off-hand. It’s a very amateur, auto-focus, camera, but it has a 50x zoom. For some reason, I can never get enough of this magnificent Earth-satellite. This time the ridges on the right hemisphere look sharper than usual.

Also check out the Canon M50. Low cost, great dynamic range, 4k capability, etc, etc, etc. For around $550 you get a camera that does a lot…albeit with a significant crop factor.
It is a wonderful picture. The moon never loses its awe inspiring power. It doesn’t create its own light but reflects the light it receives from the sun.
In something like the way that Christians reflect the Light of The Son.
I just love to think about men having walked on that big ole thing. I was 13 and totally glued tot the tv with my Dad, what a memory.
Hey, btw, while we’re in quarantine u growing a beard?
…and a pandemic ponytail.
That’s awesome, Scott! I can’t look at the full moon through my binoculars because it’s too bright for me (hurts my eyes). A trick I learned from a backyard astronomy book is that the best way to study the moon is when it’s not full, because the line between dark and light highlights the physical features. So looking at the changes from night to night gives you a much better show over time than looking at the full, bright disk. You’re getting a hint of that effect on the far right of the photo.
I live in the suburbs now and I really miss the dark sky. The light pollution here is pretty terrible. Where I lived before Harvey, I was far enough out that I could often see the Milky Way.
I have a bunch of those in my moonshot folder as well. You’re right.
awesome full moon!! I am a definite Luni… so hard to get a good shot tho I try every month…thanks
Imagine if I were sensible enough to use a tripod.
