Somehow my VISIT recommendations (requested by Steven) got locked into the “Pending” file on PJ Media. Here’s what I wrote:
Build a brick rocket stove, and heat up some soup for lunch. (lots of YouTubes)
Teach the kids how to sew on a button.
Make your own butter. (YouTube)
Learn how to handstand. It takes lots of energy and practice.
Start a journal. Write a page every day.
Read a literary classic: I just finished re-reading Great Expectations and Little Women (40 yrs later).
As a kid, I liked “Concentration,” where you lay a deck of cards face-down in a grid on the floor, then take turns turning over 2 cards to find pairs. If you don’t get a pair, the cards go back to face-down. All players get to see each card that’s turned over. Pairs get removed from play by the person who found them. Whoever gets the most pairs wins. Great for all ages (spacial relations, memory, competition).
Dig a hole and plant a VISIT memory tree. Like a crabapple or weeping cherry. Perfect time of year.
