What the hell is happening to Texas?!

First, I would like to preface that I have been born, raised, and have lived my whole life in south west Ohio. My knowledge of Texas, in general, is pretty slim. However, it seems that even Texas is not immune to the arrogant (and ignorant) views, actions, and policies by the elitist left who claim to be our higher beings when it comes to stuff like science, morality, and everything else.

Pictured with this post (below) is a chart released by the Texas Medical Association (TMA), ranking activities of the risk level of contracting Covid-19. You’ll notice things like “opening your mail” is a low risk of contracting the virus, while “going to the bar” is a high risk factor.

Apparently  the citizens of Texas are too stupid to assess their own risk of contracting the virus, so they must have their intellectual superiors show them a nice chart of what activities they can perform. One activity you’ll notice that is not listed on this chart is protesting and rioting/looting. Convenient how the MSM and other elitist left organizations don’t seem to list the protests and riots to be a potential cause of these spikes in cases of Covid-19, even though this would be right around the incubation period of the virus. But I’m no intellectually superior being, so what could I know.

Luckily, Texas has reporters that don’t push the elitist left agenda, and actually questioned the legitimacy of the chart. Reporter Camilla Rambaldi, from a local San Antonio news agency, questioned Dr. Diana Fite, President of TMA (Texas’ health overlord is a more appropriate title) of whether this chart was based mostly on assumption. A direct quote from Dr. Fite said “Right, when you think about it, where would that hardcore data be? We have never had a pandemic situation like this before. A lot of these experts, especially public health, they have DATA OF SORTS to look at, but it doesn’t necessarily apply directly to this. So, it HAS TO BE PARTLY ASSUMPTION”.

So I’m not a doctor, but I did take statistic courses in college, and if this chart was used in any of my statistic courses for a project, I would have FAILED. See, in order to convey a proper story using statistics, you need data to back it, not just based on your assumptions. One would hope that a doctor could figure that out. Hopefully she isn’t operating or treating actual patients.

Hopefully this is a vaccine for Texans from the elitist left that is taking over the rest of this country. God speed Texas.

Whoever made the assumptions (and we all know what happens when you ASS-U-ME) got several very wrong. Airplanes turn over the air in the cabin quite frequently and have excellent scrubbers. So unless the people next to you are sick and coughing / sneezing on you it is not high risk.
Working at my office is not a risk. Riding in a train for an hour with 50 others on commuter rail is. Packed in a subway car is (The last two have always has been a great spreader of viruses). Being packed in an elevator with someone sick is, but less so than the train or subway.
As to the lack of data to support – we have a flu season every year. We know how viruses are spread. If you don’t have data to support your claims, don’t make the claims.
I know this wasn’t your point of the post, but if any of the statements are ridiculously bad, then all of them are bad. This is just feel good, we should do something. My risk at the beach is from sunburn, not catching a virus.

We have never had a pandemic situation like this before.

I suggest that we don’t even have it now. The panic is completely manufactured to scare We the People into ducking our heads and keeping quite. All the while the demented left of left is running wiled, destroying what America once was, and building a new America based upon chaos and their whim of the moment.

I object!

I think the other way to look at thing is residents of the ivory towers aren’t in the state listed on their mailing address. They really reside in some global community village and that informs their politics far more than physical location.
You also have the issue of aggregating a bunch of morons in any size city and the moronfield just gets stronger, pushing intelligence and common sense farther and farther away, causing normal people nearby to get dumber.

Haha, very well put! Exactly right, and the reason why we have a federalist system; which was working well until the global elitists took control of the country. And unfortunately, in order to have the problem fixed we need to have the people with intelligence and common sense in the cities but they don’t want to deal with the morons and high taxes that come with living in a city. They end up leaving, create another great place to live, and there is no reason to go back and fix it up. Which then attracts the morons like moths to a light and they end up ruining that place as well.

Texas has been suffering at the state level from RINOs in the original sense of the term. For the last decade at least, the nominally Republican leadership in our House of Representatives has secretly caucused with Democrats to stop the grassroots Republican/conservative agenda and promote leftist causes dressed up in moderate-sounding language. It’s appalling.
Fortunately, we managed to throw out the last Speaker of the House, but it remains to be seen if the incoming Speaker will actually caucus with his own members.
Leftists are in charge of every medium to large city and county.

Unfortunately the same can be said for Ohio. With DeWine (Republican) as Governor, you’re just getting a watered down version of a Democrat. He announced a couple of days ago that masks are required to be worn in public for 7 counties, including the one I reside in, where it is currently 93 degrees and humidity is 51% (practically breathing water from the air). Trying to limit my time in the public, but would love to get a beer from one of the local breweries soon. Bars and breweries here have taken all the precautions and then some in order to protect patrons, and for some reason they are being blamed for the spikes. Luckily they are still open!

Where I live (and where several million people are ordered to wear masks even outside now), today’s forecast is 99 degrees and 80% relative humidity. Just sayin.

Thanks Scott! You’d think a millennial like myself would have figured it out.
