A Revealing Slip

This is from a New York Times article. The article itself is about the recent government releases about UFOs (or AAVs, “Advanced Aerospace Vehicles,” as the defense department is calling them). However, it Freudian-slips something illuminating about that paper’s reporting practices:

We’re often asked by well-meaning associates and readers, “Do you believe in U.F.O.s?” The question sets us aback as being inappropriately personal. Times reporters are particularly averse to revealing opinions that could imply possible reporting bias.

“Possible” reporting bias? “Averse to revealing opinions?” Dey gotsta be kiddin’.

I can atually see the NYT view on this. I don’t think, at any point in this comment, they are saying that they’re not bias, just that they don’t want to reveal their bias.
