What is the point?
Why write all these ideas out?
In 2014 Bill Whittle, was making a variety of videos explaining the conservative viewpoints, mostly to explain why he believed what he believed. In one particular video titled: “A Brief History Of Mental Illness”, Bill Whittle said something that struck a chord in my mind.
“I’m a pilot. I am a rhetorical pilot as well. And I take people on journeys. I have an obligation to pre-flight these ideas. To kick the tires and wiggle the flaps and check the “peeto” tubes (pilot tubes) for obstruction. And most importantly, to have some idea where the hell we are going.”
And that is the entire point of my writing my ideas out. I need to test them. I need to see how they sound when I say these things to another. Does what I say even make sense? Am I getting trapped in my own circular logic? Am I lacking self-awareness? Am I meandering? Is there a better way I can alliterate my thoughts? Perhaps most importantly, are my ideas and thoughts internally consistent?
How would I ever know if I do not put my ideas out there?
Embarrassment is a small price to pay for these answers.

It’s why it is called discussion. So that we get feedback on our ideas.
BTW – it is Pitot tube. Nothing to do with pilot tube. It is a device that is used for air speed indication. A blocked pitot tube would register as an increase in airspeed with increase in altitude even when speed is constant. So making sure that they are not blocked is a pilot making sure everything is in working order.
Excellent point. For the same purpose, I welcome responses contrary to my own.
