Potential Presidential Debate Traps

I’ve been thinking there area couple traps Democrats could set for our president during the upcoming presidential debates (if they happen).

Trump is a fighter.  If Joe Biden is as mentally frail as he appears, he will not be able to debate well.  If people see Trump beating up on a feeble old man, will it make them dislike him and garner sympathy for Biden?

On the flip side, what if Biden’s mental state is not as bad as it appears?  If he had a strong, energetic showing, it would be unexpected and could make him look viable since Trump is such a great debater.  No one would see it coming since Biden has seemed so slow.

Of the two, I think the second scenario is more likely than the first.  If Biden is so far gone, his handlers won’t let him debate.  If they can get one good short debate in that makes him look strong, it will be a big win for Biden.  The media would play the tape often to show their guy is strong.

It’s likely the media will attempt to do both.  They’ll try to show Biden as mentally strong while Trump is a heartless bully.  As I write this, it sounds like what the message has been all along.

So what would I recommend?  Trump has an amazing record.  Biden is a non-candidate.  The president should focus on his successes and demonstrate that he is NOT the monster the media portrays him as.  Biden will fade away.  That is essentially what the president did during the convention.

He bullied Paul Ryan by not letting him finish a sentence or even a thought. He used Ryan’s reluctance to be aggressive and insulting as a weapon against him.

I think trump should treat him as he is. If Biden comes out swinging, knock his head off. If he comes out stumbling and bumbling and acting ill, he will be looking for the sympathy. Give it to him. Stop and wait for him, give him extra care and, if need be, walk across the stage and help him. It would be pathetic and show just how far gone Biden is.
