I saw a piece about the proscription of a Neo-Nazi group called the Feuerkrieg Division. It’s not unusual to see pieces warning that we should be more worried about the growth of “far right” groups than about Islamist groups.
Personally I’m am concerned that the current situation will drive otherwise patriotic folk into the arms of racist collectivists who pay lip service to British (or American) patriotism while actually supporting the National Socialist Führer who tried to destroy our countries and our freedom.
It worries me more that their antics can be used to attack true patriots. I doubt they will ever be able to do more than the odd, small, poorly planned outrage. My gut and my own lyin’ eyes told me Islamists are more of a threat. The whole “be afraid of the ‘far-right'” narrative just doesn’t stack up.
Being an actual right winger I felt I should dig a little deeper and get some facts. Soon I was looking at the official UK Govt list of proscribed organisations as of July 2020.
It was very interesting. Even with my own expectations I was still rather taken aback, which is why I share it with you here.
The original list is in alphabetical order and has notes on the groups. I’ve posted just the names here, arranged under loose groupings by aims/ideology/nationality. First I’ve put the old familar names dating back to the days of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, then a trio of facist-fanboy groups, an eclectic grab bag of various groups from far away lands and then come the Islamists.
Here’s the list, what do you think?
