In watching confirmation hearings I was struck by the total opposite perspectives Democrats and Republicans have of the supreme court. Democrats want it to be a political organization that will support their agendas so they constantly ask about how the judge will decide future cases if and when they come up. The refusal to answer these leading questions is viewed by Democrats as covering up bias.
The Republicans aren’t as much in lock step with beliefs as the Democrats but generally take a position that the supreme court is the final interpreter of the constitution. They would like to have bias removed as much as possible in this highest court. This may be impossible since all nine judges are human. Focusing on a candidates understanding of law and the constitution seems a more valid way to vet a candidate than wanting to know how the candidate would decide issues that may or may not come before the court.
It appears that there is no common ground for Democrats and Republicans to come together on reasonable advise and consent as required by the constitution. Unfortunately this process has become a purely partisan exercise.

Yes, both nationally and at the state level, what the left cannot get by legislation it tries to get via fiat. A lot of governors have enjoyed the excuse the virus gave them to enact all sorts of social controls, but that is also why so much power has flowed to the national level: it is too much work to pass it 50 times in the state houses. It is even easier to get things passed via collusion between activist groups suing various departments and having friendly judges rule in such a way that the agencies HAVE to do what they were wanting to do but were never empowered by Congress.
Ibelieve the reasoning of democrats has gone off the rails because politics has become their new religion.Iconsider myself to be a conservative republican who is also an atheist.what i see coming from the democrats is almost cult-like and it scares me and it makes me very angry.my wife and i have two great kids and four grandkids,and we want them to have a free country in which to raise their kids.if the democrats ever get in power again(the presidentcy and the senate) our country will never be the same.their behaviour at these confimation hearings is truly sickening and has to come to an end.
