The Remaining Balance

From the beginning, the people of this nation understood that there was a tenuous balance between A functional government and a lasting individual liberty. Too little government would mean a weak defense of the rights of every American. Too much government would snuff the light of freedom, entirely.

How could such a remarkable balance, such a tremendous gift last? With endless inputs from failed and myopic men struggling for power, how could a nation maintain the razor edge between too much and too little government?

Some say that it is the fear of a well armed citizenry. Angry citizens could, theoretically, rise up against even a determined despot and remove him and his cronies from power in a matter of minutes or hours. So, the men and women that serve in elected offices should be as fearful of transgressing our rights as ever. Gun ownership is increasing, after all. Yet, elected officials exhibit little to no fear of the citizens they continue to abuse.

Others assert that educated citizens bring a trembling to the Bowels of the power mad.

Well, we are the proud recipients of the Information Highway, massive college enrollment, scientific programming on television, and a social demand for greater education for all. Despite all of this educational power, we are losing our Republic at warp speed.

I believe that those two elements might be potent factors in restraining self willed tyrants IF you add a generous helping of the third element. What is the third element? No, it is not a prequel about Korben Dallas.

It is morality. None of us have enough of it and all of us see the lack of it best in others. Morality is that bright white line on the side of the road. While it  cannot stop an errant vehicle careening toward its doom. It can help a conscientious driver maintain the center of his lane. Morality is an invisible force that can only be seen in a physical manifestation. So, when we see violent and destructive riots throughout the United States, we rightly assume that morals are lacking. When we see police officers killed, wounded, blinded, and otherwise attacked, we extrapolate from those manifestations that morals have taken a  back seat to emotional outbursts. When a woman is beaten in front of her storefront, by several males with two by fours, we figure the numbers and come up with just about zero morals left on the left.

But is that the only manifestation of moral lacking? As I said, we see immorality most clearly when we are a safe distance from mirrors.

We Conservatives, knowing the balance of our Constitutional Republic has been taken from our hands in order to steal an election, do little to nothing about it. We whine. We cry foul into our lifeless laptops. We look for a way to preserve the familiar state of perpetual pantsing we are subjected to while avoiding the “undignified” act of returning the favor.

As I write, protests are already underway. These are not incidental, spur of the moment protests. These are paid for, well timed and placed attacks on population centers. They are Democrat spawned. These left wing, loud and proud, “fists up, fight back”  malcontents are spawning protests like those that preceded the riots that damaged so many cities throughout our country this summer. with little to no provocation, The left takes to the streets and will not be ignored. Where are we? At home. Shaking our heads with feeble indignation.

With the most nightmarish provocation a real American could experience happening before our eyes, conservatives blubber in front of their television screens and do…Nothing. This is an immoral abdication of our moral duties and responsibilities.  We are morally obligated to protect our country from this kind of sabotage. We are supposed to resist this kind of coup. The coup in ballot theft, the coup in the streets, the coup in the bureaucracies of OUR government must all be resisted with a real and powerful presence.

Balance requires an equal and opposite reaction. Not equal in violence. Not equal in mendacity. We must be equal in undeniable presence and sentiment. If we cannot take to the streets to seek redress of grievances while we are still met with the Trump White House what on earth makes us think that we will move an inch out of our governmentally designated places under Biden-Harris? On every level we have been infiltrated. Still, we see no reason to rise. We find no cause to be alarmed. We are caught in the slumber of comfort and the paralysis of fear. That simply will not do.

A person with his back to the wall is a terrible opponent to face. Our backs are up against an unyielding wall of reality. Our Nation is being stolen. It is being destroyed before our eyes. Do not look for the moral restraint necessary to save this nation to come from within the ranks of the Democrats. They despise the calls for someone to bring about peace and order in our communities. Do not sit with abated breath waiting for the hearts and minds of the radicalized left-wing, blood zealots to calm themselves for an intellectual discussion about how best to return our nation to a state of freedom and civility. Do not look to a series of suicidal concessions to the Democrats to bring about balance.

Our country is falling. Do we have the moral courage to do anything more than post images and words? Who knows? It is so much easier to appear moral by questioning a call to march in the streets when peaceful, free expression might lead to harassment by radical left wing militants. It is a good thing that the civil rights leaders in the 50’s and 60’s did not know that there was an option to phone in their polite, quiet, reverent, subservient moral opinions. If they had, BLM would doubtless have a real reason to riot. Then again, we certainly do have a reason to riot and can’t even be bothered to simply assemble peacefully in the streets we once owned. The balance is gone. We are in a rapid free fall leftward.

GOD help us, we have become too “classy” to keep our morals.
