How to improve site performance?

Is there a way to make this site go faster? It is unusable if I have to wait 10 seconds for something to happen after each click. I would like to come here to get information, not improve the virtue of patience.

The site is slow. Then again, my old connection was waiting on my favorite content to come out in a book, drive down to the library, hope they have that book, search the card catalogue, search the designated area, check it out and attempt to read it in a week or two without taking notes on the book itself.
Admittedly, that took more than 10 seconds but I was never short on exercise back then.
Silver linings are everywhere…Including my scalp.

Unusable? Not functional? “Is there a block button?” I find it frustrating, too, and have asked Scott about it. (He’s well aware of the issue.) Hopefully, you’ll return to your kind self momentarily.

Honestly, website response, especially with social media style stuff like posts and comments is directly proportional to the amount of funds you can spend on servers. I’d like the site to be quicker, but to me it’s more important that my membership is spent on great content. You could encourage more friends to join: more members means more funds, and some of that could go towards faster servers.

Thank you, Jack. A dedicated server would help, at 20-times our current cost. The Membership system itself is the chief culprit, and I’m working with experts behind the scenes to find an affordable approach.

I am looking for technical assistance, not insults.
Is there a block button?

That wasn’t meant to be an insult. I say things like that to myself all the time. Makes me laugh. Didn’t make you laugh, obviously.

have to bring it to the webmaster’s attention, I’ve noticed that too. But seriously, if you cannot wait those 10 secs to get on here not sure what to tell you

It took 12 seconds to load this comment. And it will take me 12 seconds to get back. That is not functional. I can’t post a comment to the bugs/improvements/suggestions page because that doesn’t work either.

It’s not that slow for me. Try a different browser, or perhaps clear your browser cache? Have you restarted your router lately and run a speed-check?

I tested the help/bugs contact form this morning in a Chrome browser and it work properly. Page loads when you’re logged in a too slow, and we’re working within budgetary constraints to find ways to improve that.
