I watched Yesterday’s Moving Back video and was reminded of something I read years ago. Our first Congressmen and Senators did not seek the office like our current class of professional politicians do. It was a huge sacrifice to serve. You left your home, family, and business – often to your detriment. Your farm or business suffered not to mention your family. Financially it wasn’t a road to riches like it is now. I wish somehow we could measure how much people want to be elected and reject those who want it too much. I’ve heard that all politicians start out with good ideals and some are corrupted by the power, prestige and money. I think this is a horrible lie and that we are all born with a nature that is corrupted. Our government simply amplifies what is already in us.
