Once again I felt like Trump would stick to his guns and veto the steaming pile of crap bill.
I sent him an eMail telling him I didn’t want the $600 if it cost us $2T or whatever. I told him I’d rather have NO MONEY than to send those billions to all those countries.
But again, he talked a big talk, then signed the damn thing anyway. He could have vetoed it outright, did nothing (pocket veto) which would leave it to Biden’s admin. to handle.
So, I find myself feeling like a fool again for having hope. Hope our President would do something of courage. Hope our Rep’s would back us instead of backstab us.
I have zero hope for Jan. 6th, Pence, or any of our “representatives” to stand up against the voter fraud. They all seem hell bent to usher in Biden.
And I’m tired of feeling like a fool.

You are not a fool. This situation has put us all in a very tough place and it’s causing us to think we are helpless. We are not helpless or hopeless. It’s up to us to pray for guidance, think, search and plan for ways to face and defeat what is coming. I’m not going to lie down or bend the knee to these deviants. We’re smarter than they are! A new venture calls forth a new faith.
There is a way out of hell!
The choice was between sticking to his guns over the relief bill and holding on to the chance of keeping the Senate. A veto would have been used against the Republican candidates in the Georgia races. Losing the Senate would cost us much more than that bill does.
Shitty choice, but there it is.
I think signing a pork-filled bill with crumbs for the taxpayers who’ve been suffering for 9 months is just as likely to negatively affect the Rep’s in GA chances of winning (both are RINO’s by the way).
Check out Derrick Grayson’s YT vid on that pair + the Dem candidates. He lives there and has ran for office and knows the players and the corruption.

So if they both won we’d have about the same chance of them standing with Trump as we currently do with pretty much the rest of the Rep’s already in D.C.
Also assuming the election will be legal in GA. That’s almost laughable.
The Dem’s (and their outside the country big bucks) have poured millions into GA to ensure a Dem victory.
For Rep’s to win the election would have to be fair, verified by both parties, certified, and republican voters come out in great numbers.
And we’ve all seen how the fairness, verification, certification, and court cases have went in the disputed states.
I have “no confidence” in my govt. at this point.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Desperate times, I guess…
I don’t think that is a valid excuse. AAMOF if that was the motivation that shame on him really.
I don’t think it’s a valid excuse either. It’s just a fairly obvious reason to sign the bill. See my reply to De, above.
The “Red-Lining” puts the burden of fixing the bill back where it belongs, to Congress.
45 Days from now.
When Trump is likely to be gone.
Was there more he could do?
He is right.
A lot of Americans are hurtin’ right now. That $2000 will help.
In Blue states with high unemployment due to lockdowns, those extra 13 weeks of unemployment will help. As will those 11 weeks of $300.
All that Pork? That’s what Congress contributed. And them not fixing the bill will be on them.
This comment leaves you disappointed? 2020 was a very disappointing year.
My understanding is he signed the bill with the $600 clause and requested the $2000 again. Will they do it? If I’m behind on the latest developments, sorry.
I agree the $300 extra UI will help, but what would really help is if the Pres. would rescind the emergency order so the states “leaders” couldn’t keep locking people down and everyone could get back to work.
I follow the news about the Relief Bill because I really do need the money.
The President cannot rescind orders he did not issue, that in fact the Mayors and Governors have issued.
Unlike Obama, he has respected Federalism.
So, the states aren’t getting additional fund from the federal government for this rona pandemic?
I have read that they are, but would not be surprised if they are.
The bill was written by an assortment of that sort of Politician.
As I posted below, there is no such creature as a redlined bill. It is either signed or not signed. There is no Federal line item veto. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
It’s all hype. Sure, a President can bark about what he wants changed. But he can’t bite very hard unless he vetoes. he didn’t
Much has been made of the refusal to veto being a result of concern over the Warnock and Ossoff Senate races. Frankly, if that is what it takes to retain those seats, they are already lost. Nobody placated by the failure to veto the bill, 90+% of which had nothing to do with Covid relief, will now choose to vote for Loffler and Perdue. Signing it was the act of a defeated President.
Same here. T has big mouth on twitter but most times that is all that happens.
The news are confusing, some outlets wrote he signED the bill, past tense. In some streams I listened a few hours ago people had the same understanding. If it turnes out to be fake news, I’ll be happy for change. For the short time at least before the congress declares the bill stands as originally posted.
Yes, like Bonnie stated, he is not just signing but calling for a revamped version:
“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill,” he said.
Trump also noted that the House will vote to increase direct payments to $2,000 per person and $5,200 for a family of four on Monday, and that the Senate will also start the process for a vote.
But will they rescind? They’re the ones who added all the pork and disagreed with the $2,000 a few days ago.
They’ve been fighting against him the whole time. Why do anything different?
That is true. I guess I am just looking for a reason to not be completely disgusted and angry about the outrageous spending.
It may not be as bad as it sounds. https://twitter.com/jennfranconews/status/1343371751938355200
He is sending back a “redlined” version. If I am understanding correctly, it cuts out a lot of the garbage that Congress included.
I expect them to behave as they have been for 4 years.
There is no such actual Constitutional entity known as a “redlined” version. In states with a line item veto, sure. At the federal level, no.
As with most everything, form over substance.
