MAGA Carta

I may be a bit impaired to do this now (but what the heck)

The GOP is dead for me I have transitioned to MAGA. What that means is that I will no longer vote straight ticket. I am done with the least worst option. And, I’m done with the talking points. The Republicans talk a big game and then don’t follow through.

However, as Bill and the gang have pointed out we have the best ideas. So let’s put those ideas into a vehicle that can appeal to more people so we don’t need a personality (like Trump) to deliver our message.

The first thing I think we need to come to terms with is that we, as conservatives, need to be more pragmatic. Take health care for instance. What’s our plan exactly? I consume 6-8 hours a day of conservative news/commentary and I have no idea. However, I do know that the biggest complaint we have against the other guys is that they come up with programs we can’t afford. Ok then, what if we could afford it. How about we agree to universal healthcare and come up with a way to pay for it. Free market solutions could be implemented that would end up with us paying much less than we pay for the mess we have. We are spending trillions in healthcare and much of it is waisted.

Most of us don’t want war but we want to be safe and have a strong military. This is where the lefts objection to Trump has been most baffling. Anyone remember how the left was opposed to war before Obama?

How about spending. If we can grow at a rate above 6% (this is very hard to do, I admit) spending is not as big an issue as it is if growth is at 1%. I hate all the government spending but the Republicans attempt to curtail it is, quite frankly, a total embarrassment. So if we’re not serious about it why make it an issue to be used against us. Let’s push growth. Let’s push Made in America. We can get some of the Bernie bros with that one and the healthcare issue.

The green new steal. What a scam this is. I’m not sure exactly how to play this off. The left wants Sun and Wind renewables. If you research this you’ll find it is ultimately bad for the environment. Really the only way to go is latest generation nuclear. I suggest the book Apocalypse Never by Michael Shellenberger (probably spelled that wrong). BTW, if you look at all the green stuff the left wants to do, in the timeline they have, we would need to employ every man, woman, and child in America and we still wouldn’t have enough people to get it all done. How many people do you know who are getting into the solar, wind, building renovation business? Also, they have plans to rapidly expand the train system. Anyone here know anybody in the track laying business?

What about abortion. I’m adopted. My sister was adopted. I’m not big on abortion. But what about some middle ground on this issue. Look at most European laws on abortion and you’ll find that most of their countries limit abortion to the first 5-6 months. I don’t like it at all but if we can get this issue off the table maybe we can save the country. I don’t want to be a total a-hole here but if liberals are content to pumping their kids with hormones and cutting off their junk then maybe it’s better they don’t have kids at all (don’t mean to be flippant but it all sickens me).

Back to the economy. The left wants to pay people just for being born (a basic living wage). Actually, Milton Friedman supported this in the form of a negative income tax. The idea is we pay people, let’s say, $400 a week in welfare. In our current system if they get a job they lose the money. But with a negative income tax they just get less for getting a job. So if they get $400 a week then get a job that pays $400 a week then maybe they only get $300 from the gov. If the job pays $600 maybe they get $200. Until it zeros out. It’s an incentive to work without losing benefits. Again, I’m not a fan of this kind of thing. But we are wasting so much money in our current system and so many people are just working the system. By the way, this is supposed to replace current the welfare system.

Anyhow the booze is kicking in but let’s think in terms of pragmatism instead of idealism. And let’s consider losing the damaged brand of Republican. I believe there is a bigger center than we can imagine.

One more thing. I’m pissed that this election was stolen. Trump was great for this country. But he’s not going to be president in four years. He’s going to be too old. But if he starts his own party on January 21st I think the GOP is done for. 75 million people voted for him. He’ll take 50 million with him.

thanks for reading, the beatings will continue shortly

I’m also done with the Rep party. I wouldn’t join a MAGA party though. Too much baggage and brainwashing with that saying.
I think what Bill W. said about “Americans” is spot on. Maybe the American party. Don’t know. We need something new and build it carefully.
Although I believe everyone should be able to get healthcare, I don’t agree with Med for All simply on the “govt. run” principle.
Don’t believe in abortion generally, but think there should be some middle ground, which requires people actually talking with each other. 🙁
Don’t believe in welfare generally because it’s so abused. (And now I understand how this came to be.)
People who lose their job should be eligible for some type of assistance while securing another job, but the rules and time limits, etc. need revamped.
I used to work for a state “employment” agency. We were supposed to help people find work and administer unemployment benefits and other “programs”.
It was a state job, so it was pretty much a joke. The only businesses that listed with us were the menial type work. Most people just did what they had to do to keep their benefits and most of the staff didn’t have the knowledge to help their clients with job search, resume, interviewing, etc.
I did my best to try and turn that around, but it’s easier to say “we’re overworked, too many clients to see,” etc. About 80% of the staff wouldn’t do more than the bare minimum to get their paycheck.
So, that system is broken. There may be some states that do a better job, but it’s basically broken because it’s a federally run consolidated “benefits” type deal.
I wish the Pres. would have cut red tape, money wasting agencies, etc. more. But I guess Biden will just undo it anyway.

I’m very much not a fan of federally controlled, national programs. Universal health care can only be administered at the federal level, leaving it in the capricious control of politicians and bureaucrats. No matter how “Conservatively” it’s implemented, no such program will survive intact, even from one Congress to the next. As far as I’m concerned, anything like that is a complete non-starter.

About 90% of everything that governments at all levels currently do must be eliminated. That’s the only goal I support, no matter how long it takes.

I agree with everything you said. I am much more libertarian than republican. However, we are about to lose the country to violent civil war. Websites like this could be de-hosted. The left is out for blood.
They are seriously considering things like a social credit score and another patriot act and censoring congressmen with whom they disagree.
We all need to move, uncomfortably, to the center or I’m afraid all is lost. I don’t want a civil war. Whatever rises from the ashes won’t be America as we know it.
God Bless

You’re supposed to act out of principle and not out of fear.
An ill-conciever big program can ruin more lives than a civil war. I maen an actual one — not one just envisioned for the sake of trigger “do something”.
And if the left goes bonkers the plan of submitting sounds fishy — they will only go even more bonkers and after taking everything you offered they will come back for the rest. Just look at history.
Actually, they amassed all their power this far through all the submissions and sitting silently, it could have been prevented by calling stop on the first breach of sanity.

I couldn’t disagree more strongly. I don’t know what you mean by “the center,” but if it means what is usually meant by it, it means compromise, not merely on how specifics are implemented but on our very principles. I will never do that.

Compromising on principles means giving in “just a little” to the growing tyranny, then doing it again and again until the tyranny is complete and you no longer have any principles. I couldn’t live with with myself like that, I don’t see how anyone could, and I would despise anyone who could.

Thanks for replying and I agree with you and appreciate the strength of your convictions.
I may just be a bit depressed of late but I’m already concerned about the next election (I believe this one was stolen).
Two points I’d like to make. First, I think we need an even broader coalition to ensure the next election is un-stealable. Although, if they break up the electoral college I don’t think it will have the effect they think it will. After all a candidate would only need to get the most votes and no candidate would be beholden to a party.
Secondly, after taking the house, senate, and presidency the republicans have led us to more debt, we still have Obummercare, big tech was never dealt with, the Trump tax plan isn’t permanent nor was it the fair/flat tax we’ve been promised, and all the deregulation under Trump is about to be re-regulated by Supreme Comrade Leader Biden.

Thanks again and God Bless

I’m not supporting Republicans. I’ve said for decades now, Democrats blow and Republicans suck. I’m registered No Party here in PA.

We have to return to the founding principles of the country. That’s what MB2A is doing. We’ve already started.

IMHO it’s long overdue to form a centrist party that might even declare from the start to NOT pick up the obsession from the existing two (as in everyone’s posessions and everyone’s sex life in a broad sense).
The time look ripe, as dems shifted a long way to the left and the conservatives are disappointed with gop, so beyond the natural base of those hating both obsessions plenty of dedicated people might consider to switch over, especially if the numbers are there.

We need to work together or we’ll be in a civil war. That helps no one. We are all going to have to give a little. In the last few days the left has become extremely radical. I am deeply concerned.
God Bless

In the UK if you get back into work through the job-centre and through working (and childcare nees etc) end up earning less than your benefits would be, then there are sometimes credits you can get that make up the difference. It always seemed a reasonably fair method of getting people back onto the job ladder to me.
As for ideas, there’s this guy called Bill Whittle who did an excellent series called Mr Virtual President. Well worth a watch: https://billwhittlecom.wpenginepowered.com/category/shows/virtual-president/

Thanks. I like to hear about how other countries solve social problems.
God Bless

short version:they don’t…
social stuff is just shifting the shit around and put some part to focus as good propaganda, the rest and especially the alternatives hidden in the dark.

When Bernie Sanders would talk about how we should be more like Sweden he would actually make suggestions about changing our government to make us more like Venezuela. ‘Tax the rich’ and all that.
But if you look at how Sweden actually works they are much more of a free market economy than we are.
Look up Swedish historian Johan Norberg. He has a good “free to choose” video on how they actually do things and the trouble they got into when they tried socialism. It’s about an hour long. You can find the video on the evil heathen run YouTube or here https://www.freetochoosenetwork.org/programs/sweden/

Sweden could preveil despite of the massive centralisation due to a set of rare circumstances that are not present in most places of the world. And will not be in Sweden either soon unless they stop the nonsense approach with random immigration. (Maybe they did already after the big wave a few years ago, have no reliable news source.)
When you heat Sweden as an example you have 99+% chance it being wrong and building on people’s ignorance. As solution that could be exported to other places it is useless.
