Apparently there are reports of tens of thousands of people suddenly signing up for an app called Gab, as they believe Parler will be going down and Twitter will be censoring.
Personally, I haven’t heard of Gab before and I do not see it in the Apple store.

Believe Parler will go down? IT DID GO DOWN! AWS pulled hosting for them. Supposedly they have a backup host somewhere. We’ll see.
Gab hasn’t been on the app store since a month after it came out. Too much competition for the social media giants.
You won’t see Gab in the Apple store, or Google store. The developers built their own platform from the ground up so that they couldn’t be taken offline by big tech (as is happening to Parler right now). I’m not 100% on the full story, but there were all kinds of false claims made against them a few years ago. No payment processor would work with them. So, they learned their lesson early.
I’m seeing reports that their traffic is up by at least 750% this week, so they are having lots of growing pains, and really slow at the moment, if you can log in at all. But, from what I have seen so far, there looks to be lots of potential.
Yesterday, the CEO of Parler confirmed that they are being taken offline because they use Amazon web services. They are planning to be back up within a week.
Oh cool… I haven’t looked into it, but I just checked out their app instructions. Looks like they are using the Progressive Web App method of getting their stuff out.
I knew PWAs would be the punch against Apple, I just didn’t know someone had already gotten things rolling already.

Very nice. Makes me want to stand up, take my hat off, and put it over my heart as he speaks. Very very glad, he took the correct step. PWAs cannot be controlled by anyone else, as it is basically just a website tucked into the appearance of being an App.
Gab used to be in the Google Store. It’s gone now, although I don’t know when it disappeared. I haven’t checked its site for a long time.
Parler was in the independent (well, used-to-be) app store Uptodown. As of yesterday, it’s not there any more. I can’t say if Gab was ever there – I just looked for the first time and it is not.
