After reading a story about a small ISP in Northern Idaho allowing users to block Twitter and Facebook on the Blaze, I emailed my VPN provider asking for the same service. Preferably with enough granularity to just block the worst offenders while being able to use everything else if I want to. I know Google could just take the VPN app off of the Play Store, but hopefully enough of us act to make a dent. Twitters stock price only fell 6% today. Hopefully we can make them hurt.
While I’m waiting to see if anything comes of my feature request, I updated my Ad blockers to try to remove as much “social” as possable. Back in the day when I had time for a high maintenance Linux distro, I used my hosts file to send any request apps made for Twitter and what not to a micro http daemon running on my computer. So any boxes on a web page that were supposed to hold a reference to “social media” would be filled with a place holder that just said “Anti Social.”
I’m optimistic that enough of us have or will take simular actions to have a impact.
One reply on “Feature request campaign.”
