Hey – I’m a child of the 70s and 80s. And Bill Whittle has talked numerous times about how movies and games are often the way past the indoctrination of the enemy. Current Day Hollywood doesn’t understand the power of the Heroes Journey at all.
As a wiser master than me once said – “That is why you fail.”
But many of us DO understand the power of myth. The power of dreams. Who doesn’t want to be Luke Skywalker?
Well okay I was always more of a Han Solo guy myself. Coming in to save the day when he’s least expected to is the kind of style I like. 😀
But as a first post, I thought I’d introduce myself with a reference to a brighter time and one that echoes in terms I think Bill would appreciate.
The Rebellion is real. The Empire is Evil and always has been. And now they’ve done the absolute ONE WRONG thing that always leads to the Evil Empire’s doom.
THEY’VE DROPPED ALL THE MASKS AND COME FOR US OPENLY.
GOOD. It’s about time for a stand-up fight!
We’ve been studying them for a long time now. Bill Whittle and others like him showed the way. I’ve had my eyes open for about 3 decades now.
And you know what? We understand them.
And they haven’t the SLIGHTEST CLUE about us.
That gives us a massive advantage. I remember another great quote from Patton. Don’t know if the real man said this or not. But it’s very much LIKE something he would have said in real life:
“Rommel… You Magnificent BASTARD! I read your BOOK!”
We’ve known their book for a long time now – Saul Alinski’s rules for radicals. We understand the evil and the genius of that man (may he rot in hell). Yes I can acknowledge genius and evil in the same moment.
Our enemies can’t. They don’t know us. They REFUSE to know us. They refuse to ENGAGE us. If they HAVE learned anything – it’s that they CAN’T WIN against us unless the field is their home turf, they outnumber us 100-1, the officials make all the calls in their favor, and they cheat.
Advantage – us. We go in knowing the score.
The masks are off. The Empire thinks it has won. They’ve hurt us badly.
But the Rebellion always escapes to fight another day.
You can’t stop the signal. And I for one – aim to misbehave.

The music in this speaks to me. And you are very right: As Bill has pointed out too, we know more about them than they do about us (one-way TV / flow of entertainment has played a big role in that).
To drop another great Bill line: “They’ve got us surrounded! — The poor bastards!”

Well said and welcome to the rebellion.
It’s funny but I always thought I was more of a liberal in my thinking. I was a bit anti-authority and a free speech absolutist, not big on war but ok with a strong military. So I always felt a little more at home with the rebels of the world. I was a declared Libertarian. But they never won anything. So, somehow, I ended up, reluctantly, voting Republican (it always seemed like a vote for the empire). It never felt right till Trump. He’s a rebel. He’s anti war. He’s all about free speech. He bucks the establishment!
Remember, your lightsaber is a shield not a sword (or something like that)
