If you need 20,000 military troops in full combat gear to secure 1 building for a “peaceful transition” to a new president, you’re not living in a free and fair democracy or representative republic anymore.

Isn’t it 30k?
Is it? Yesterday I saw 15,000. Then 20,000. Are we up to 30,000 now?
Well, that’s a full Corps size. Shall we find ourselves with a full Field Army soon?
I don’t know whose side the NG troops are on. I just find it very odd that a supposedly limited and virtual inauguration of this new Pretender in Chief would require that much security. What exactly is everyone expecting to happen? Certainly they aren’t actually expecting a bunch of Trump Supporters to show up and scare them again with their unarmed, well-behaved shouting.
Further, why are the Democrats so damn scared right now? What’s with all this rushing around trying to bypass chains of command and rapid impeachment? And why is the FBI warning against violent protests in every single capitol when all indicators are pointing to Trump Supporters NOT organizing any protests at capitols?
Just weird. A lot of stuff doesn’t make logical sense if I take the position of what would normally happen. I…don’t trust any of this.
For more information, watch the movie Valkyrie (2008) w/ Tom Cruise.
That’s one line of thinking I’ve heard. It’s possible given the players involved.
All anyone can do is wait and see. This isn’t a “go to sleep and be passive” wait and see. It’s merely watchfulness. The next 10 days (the expiration of the DC emergency declaration) shall be very interesting to say the least. And terrifying.
Don’t you know that Trump is evil and all of that is necessary because he lied and he doesn’t want to leave the office? Only a fringe minority believes his lies.
What has he done that is so evil? Which lies are you speaking of?
I think he’s being sarcastic.
Wow, this is the same question I try to ask and never seem to get any actual answer. I understand the sarcasm in initial comment. I am actually asking anyone and everyone, “What has President Trump done, said, tweeted, etc. that is so uber evil that he needs drawn, quartered, and burned at the stake?
Not only him but anyone who has ever agreed with or supported him. I have known about Trump my whole life, he has always been a flamboyant and outspoken individual. He has taken the buffoon treatment from all his critics all his life, and has utilized it to his benefit. I was frankly amazed at how much actual positive change he achieved in such a short time. He has been fighting every single agency, political figure, media outlet, and even just popular personalities to just do what he said he would do when he ran for office. Here at the end, we all recognize he had absolutely no actual support or ability to trust any or government agency or personnel. The DOJ, FBI, CIA, State Officials, Courts, and even the Republican party undermined everything he worked on.
They simply don’t like him because he is not one of the aristocrats and just a commoner. The way our elected officials act we might as well give them the titles they exemplify. Senators are now Dukes/Duchesses, Representatives are Earls/Countesses, and the rest fill in the blanks as their levels decrease down the royalty lines. Seriously they live in castles surrounded by walls with armed guards. Power corrupts and man do we have a lot of power being wielded by very few individuals.
I was just testing if people here get sarcasm. I guess I got my answer. Some do, some don’t.
By the way how many lefties are on this platform? I haven’t seen any so far.
I figured it was, so I kept my comment tame. Still, the /sarc tag was missing so I decided to ask anyways. I’m pretty sure lefties are allowed and even welcome on here, so long as they are well behaved.
I guess the true question is if I know of any lefties who are well behaved.
It all depends on the starting position. There are plenty of well behaved lefties. And even the not well ones are well behaved in the right context.
And I didn’t know of any /sarc rules.
It’s one of those oldie internet-etiquettes from the 90’s when the internet was first put into use. Not many of the younger folks likely know of what is called ‘the sarc tag’ anymore. And I’m guessing the much older folks that didn’t go on the internet until a later in life might not know it either. I find when I use it though, folks still understand it.
I was born in 1994 and I started entering the internet in 2010. I’m too young.
