Matt Smith is the most underrated Musician I know of. His first album was entirely made by him. And slowly more people got involved. His skills are an incredible talent of writing songs but he also is an incredible singer and musician in general. I will show here two of his best works. Please take a bit of time and listen to them. You won’t be disappointed.
Mirror of souls stands out the most among all the songs of the band Theocracy. It isn’t really a song. It is more like a 22 minutes long story which is both told by the lyrics and the music. With the song “I am” it shares the title of the fans favorite. In this song, as well as every other song of the second album, all bass guitars, keyboard, choirs as well as the lead singer is done by him. He is also the writer of that song. Theocracy is known for their great riffs, voices and the long songs which seem only half as long as they actually are.
And the Rest is Mystery is one of the currently three singles of the Project Aegis. The songs are composed, produced, mixed and mastered by Matt Smith and they feature excellent musicians from other bands. Every song of the Project Aegis puts 100% of the income into non-profit charities.
Matt has also other singles which he releases unofficially whereas most of them are either lighthearted or Christmas songs.
I have only seen good reactions from people (with the exception of people who dislike Metal as an entirety), but somehow this band doesn’t get any publicity. That’s why I do my part in spreading its name.

I love this! Probably will buy some. You consider this metal, or who does. Don’t normally like metal, and does not sound like any metal i have ever heard.
I would say it is a mix of power metal, symphonic metal with a phases of progressive metal. At least when it comes to the metal parts of his songs. But Matt also mixes in ballades into the songs. As far as I know most metal bands make either ballades or the heavier music and they don’t mix them up as often as Matt does. But I don’t really have that broad of a knowledge on music in general. So I might be off on that one.
