If you wear a mask, please do not try to engage me in conversation. I can’t understand what you’re saying because of the muffled nature of your voice. Don’t speak louder, won’t help. I need to see what your mouth is forming to make sense of the sounds.
I get it, you’re concerned about all the viruses, bacteria and whatnot that’s floating around out there and I understand that not everyone has a good, strong immune system like me.
I can understand that you wear the mask, not for your own well-being, but for the consideration of others, the possibility that while you’re not susceptible, others may be, so you wear the mask to make them feel safe.
You may feel that by wearing the mask, that you’re showing others that you care, without saying a word. You may even wear it as a sign of solidarity, possibly honoring those who have died or have lost friends or loved ones.
However.
You do not have the right to force me to wear a mask, either directly or indirectly. You do not get to treat me as “less than” because I don’t wear a mask. My reasons for not wearing a mask are just as valid as your reasons for wearing a mask.
If you approach me in a belligerent manner because I am not wearing a mask, I will suspend decency to neutralize whatever threat I feel has been levied at me. I will not be kind, thoughtful or considerate. If you persist, compassion will not be found.
I am a peaceful person by nature until stirred. I will engage in thoughtful discussion with logic and reason, but I will not enable ignorance or fear. In this age, with all the information we have at the ready, ignorance and fear are so pervasive.
Be not ignorant. Be curious, be inquisitive and most of all, ask! Fear is the mind-killer (quote from 1984) but why? In this information age, why fear? The answer is out there, seek it!
Live and let live, but if you surpress, don’t be surprised when your plans don’t work out.

And the questions that all the science believers never want to go near, much less answer, is this: They say that their masks aren’t for their own safety but for the protection of others, yet how can that be? If masks don’t protect them from anything, then how much value are they for anyone else?
It’s like a neighbor saying that their fence doesn’t protect them from my prying eyes but it keeps them from peeking into my back yard. Logically, it should work both ways, but logic is in short supply these days.

However, the citation regarding fear is not from Orwell’s 1984 …
“Fear is the mind-killer … ” is actually a quote from Frank Herbert’s novel Dune. It is the Bene-Gesserit Litany Against Fear. The novel was published in 1965 if I recall properly. The whole thing is worth revisiting and that’s the only reason I took note —
“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
The truth is that Frank Herbert sort of adapted Bill Shakespeare’s line in Julius Caesar that goes; “A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.”
In both cases it is wise advice and wise of you to point that out.

The thing about masks and the belief that they offer protection just doesn’t stand up to plain and simple observation. There has been no logic, absolutely none, to the claim that they are of any measurable use.
I haven’t participated in the mask cult because I value rationality and logic. I have yet to be accosted or shunned or shouted at for going about bare-faced. My normal lifestyle is decidedly less social than the average, so the cost to me (and others if you want to believe that) isn’t high.
I choose not to wear a mask because I refuse to capitulate to idiocy, especially when it is mandated by a government that has repeatedly shown me that my well-being is the furthest from its interest and goals.
Likewise, I’ve yet to wear a mask myself. Since I have facial scarring to begin with, most are afraid to approach me anyway, but there will come a time where people will become emboldened, and that is the day compassion will flee…
I hope that won’t be the case, but people who are afflicted so greatly by the Dunning-Kruger effect, and who grovel at the feet of authority feel empowered to ignore all virtue in their blind zeal to inflict their ill-informed beliefs on others. These are the people who should be ignored and shunned if at all possible. They are a scourge upon us and while most of them occupy government, many of them are roaming at large.
They best keep their distance from me unless they want an unexpurgated version of my opinion.

Well said! I have taken to not wearing masks whenever possible despite our governor’s “emergency order.” This is not a dictatorship, and I have yet to receive a sufficient answer to some very basic questions:
1) Exactly how does this virus infect people? Empirical evidence would indicate that if it aerosolized and hung in the air like measles, the rate and degree of infection would be much, much higher. Of the videos I’ve seen, the solution for eliminating the threat of infection from microdroplets which hang in the air temporarily can be summed up in one word…ventilation. It seems incredibly silly for us all to be walking around petrified when a $20 fan from Walmart and some fresh air introduced to the restaurant or whatever periodically even through customers opening and closing the door would provide sufficient air circulation. The only concentrations pf droplets in the studies appear in closed rooms.
2) Let’s assume the premise that it’s highly contagious. I’m not in the vulnerable population. Whatever mask that stops me from exhaling the virus will stop a vulnerable person from inhaling the virus. Why in the world am I wearing a mask?
Been meaning to do a post on this, but I’m definitely with you on this one. I think a hard look at the science and challenging the status quo from Lord Fauci and the rest is long overdue. They haven’t given any signs of what will be sufficient for us to go back to normal, and in my opinion, they’re testing us to see what we’ll accept as part of their Great Reset.
For those of you who keep insisting that’s all a “conspiracy theory,” they literally produced a commercial for it part of which says that money for “climate change”: such be part of any recovery stimulus package…kind of like what the Democrats are doing now.
Something else we all need to watch are Agenda 1 and Agenda 2. The Communists are here and well on their way to accomplishing their goals. We need to wake people up…
