Good points all. The scary part is that the Left already knows this works and they know that by historical precedence.
There was a time (ha ha pre-covid) when I would have scoffed derisively at the idea Americans would stand for such a thing. No more. At the rate we are going, under a shamelessly progressive administration, this kind of coercion may very well come to pass.
