My reaction was the exact same as Bill’s, when I heard about the Chinese anal swabs. I still laugh whenever I hear it mentioned.

Not defending him–he is definitely a creep and probably is guilty of far worse sexual crimes than I’ve heard so far.

That’s a far more accurate example of racism. Color of skin is breed, not race. After all, it’s the Human Race, not Human Races. If one has an issue with another simply based on the color of their skin, we need to start using the term “breedist” from now on. lol
1) This is where ‘Plastic Sandy’ is wrong: if that $75,000 robot were patrolling in low-income neighborhoods in NYC, it would be snatched, stripped and sold for drug money in 10 minutes.
2) I agree that the anal swabbing was no accident. It was an intentional humiliation and show of power designed to cause the US to lose Face. Anyone familiar with Asian culture knows how important Face is. Losing Face is a grave insult, and causing the loss of Face is a powerful act. China has just shown the Asterisk administration what they think of us.

As for the Chinese COVID test our diplomats endured, I think the Chinese developed the test with help from CNN.
The fact that any U.S. diplomat would acquiesce to this is insane. It reminds me of the time that Obama was left stranded on the tarmac in Air Force One because China claimed they didn’t have the right ladder to get him out of the plane. Had that been me, I would have given them five minutes to find a ladder and then instructed the pilot to take off immediately. That kind of snub does not happen unintentionally–it’s a statement of power.
That kind of snub can be returned one of two ways… I am sure there is an alternate way out of Air Force One that the President and staff could have used, and he could publicly chastize the welcoming comittee for their abject failure of preparation, not having the right ladder ready.
As you say, something like that is done on purpose because you think you can, not because “oops neglected a little detail for this state visit”… that’s having one extra or one fewer forks on a table because an extra staffer joined the meal, not USAF1 needs a fancy ladder you just could not find, or someone neglected to tell you how high the door is.

I was going to try and come up with a comment contrasting Biden and Trump diplomates, but then I remembered Rick Grenell, and I was just not sure what I should or could say.
My point was that Biden’s diplomats or really the State Dept in general would be happy, nay eager, to prostrate themselves before China. Not to cast aspersions on people like Grenell.
I think it’s pretty racists of AOC to want low income people to remain victims of criminal predators.
