I have a bad habit …

Ok, I have several bad habits but the one I want to talk about is specific to the current political climate and social situation.

That bad habit is a distrust of media, all media, including all internet media.  So when I find people/sites/groups that I think are telling the straight story, I stick with them.  That’s one of the reasons I’m here at BillWhittle.com — I’ve never yet caught Bill, Scott and Steve in an outright lie nor a particularly biased slanting of the truth.  So I stick with what seems to me to be as close to reality as I can get.

I watch stuff by Bill & Company, Dennis Prager, Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles, and I like to catch whatever is the latest release by Mark Dice because Mark’s stuff is usually pretty short and he says a lot in a short time.  Plus I find these people fun, I’ll admit to that too.

Oh, and I’ve watched everything Jordan Peterson has put up on the net.  I almost forgot him, he’s a psychologist and not a political pundit but he’s right in what he has to say.

So I tend not to look at new things I’m not familiar with.    In fact, there are only so many hours in a day so I need to avoid rabbit holes like the plague or I’ll never get anything else done.

I’m telling you this because you might have the same bad habit in this regard that I do.  The problem with this bad habit is that I miss out on some truly informative stuff because I don’t recognize the person posting/speaking and my education of current affairs and social phenomena is lacking thereby.  So …

I clicked on this video today because I found the title very intriguing.  I mean who here wouldn’t be piqued by a title like —

“‘Woke utopia’, the end of the West & a new cult – James Lindsay interview – BQ #33”

???

So I watched/listened to this nearly hour long video while I did some laundry and other chores.  I’m very glad I did because this guy explains things in a way that I find very helpful.  If you can spare an hour sometime in the next few days, I strongly urge you to check this out.  It might broaden your horizons but it will certainly describe many things you already know or at least suspect and tie them together in a logical, detailed, sensible manner.

For the record, while I also have bad habits, I consider neither Scotch nor Cigars to be among them.
I may be in the minority on this, but it is a badge I wear with honor.
All of those except Mark Dice are familiar to me.
I would add that I do find Stephen Crowder humorous and informative at times. Though sometimes he seems to be trying very hard for the humorous.

Well … I’ve been told that my whiskey, cigars and pipes are bad habits but I remain unconvinced. I’m a terrible skeptic and very hard to convince, which may or may not be another bad habit depending on who you ask.

Mark Dice is a younger guy (younger than me) who lives in Kalifornia and does short — I don’t think you could really call them anything but mockeries of the left — videos that he releases a few times a week. His videos are pretty lighthearted. And short. Did I mention short? Yeah, short videos just about the amount of time it takes me to get my coffee set up and started in the morning. He was among the conservative YouTube media that Trump invited to the White House. I’m not really recommending him, I just like what he does and I get a giggle out of his videos. But then I’m a cynical, skeptical old man so YMMV.

I like to watch Crowder once in a while, I like Tim Pool on occasion, I have been known to sit through a few Ben Shapiro videos, etc. I’m not really recommending anyone in the list above so much as just providing limited examples of the kind of thing I generally have playing when I can spare the attention. Those in the list are people whom I make a point of watching everything they release. The others; Crowder, Pool, Shapiro et. al., are things I watch when I have time and have run out of my “primaries”.

I’ve been following Bill Whittle the longest of any of them. Bill most nearly mirrors my own attitudes on things and I’ve always liked Bill’s perspective. Bill says a lot that I already know but he puts things in words that I can use in my own arguments and that’s very handy.

Shapiro gets a lot of vitriol from conservatives for not jumping on the Trump train. I thought the video he did prior to the past election; essentially a mea culpa – I was wrong and now I am voting for him enthusiastically – was well done. But I like Bill (and Scott and Steve) because of the way they say things. It hits the mark for me.
The truth is that there is a lot of content out there by some really good people, and I sample many ( I will give Dice a chance) but the only ones I come back to daily are these here.
Are any of these folks on Rumble?

Shapiro is alright, anyone can be wrong and admitting it is a mark of an honest broker. I think but do not know for sure that Shaprio owns or is an owner/founder of The Daily Wire, from which a lot of good content flows. So that’s a check in the “plus column” for him. I just don’t want to sit through his two hour shows every day.

I’m not among those that think that if someone ever said the slightest disparaging word against Donald Trump they are relegated to the “enemies forever” file folder. I don’t like Trump as a person at all, but I loved him as President because of his policies. I voted for him both times and would vote for him again … Unless there were a better choice. I do think there are better choices than Trump but …

Sadly, no matter who the Republican Party fields as a candidate in the Presidential election I have to vote for that person just to offset Democrat Leftism. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that.

I don’t know about people on Rumble, I don’t use it. Not because of any political or other consideration. YouTube obviously tallies connections and sells ads priced on that basis but other than logging my connection they make not a dime off of me because I filter/block all of their advertisements. The YouTube ads only pay when they run, they don’t run here*. I can’t do that on Rumble so I watch things on YouTube in order to conserve my time and preserve continuity of the thing I’m watching. The really smart operators (like The Daily Wire) have their hosts pitch their own ads in the video, which works on both YouTube and Rumble. I can’t do anything about those ads because they’re just pitches during the video, nor would I if I could. That ad revenue goes directly to the content provider not YouTube.

(*I’m watching all this stuff on a real computer, not a tablet, pad, or phone. It’s a behemoth of my own construction with six screens that includes a 65″ TV and is connected to a 5.1.2 Yamaha surround sound/Atmos AVR. It has 30+ terabytes of storage and is my security camera server, media server and my main system. I’m on that machine right now. I pretty much control everything that goes on with that machine including blocking very nearly all internet advertising. Those people are not welcome to clock cycles on my processors. I’m not bragging about my machine, I’m simply explaining why I do things the way I do them. Because the way I do them is not how most people would but I have my reasons even so.)

James Lindsay, Peter Boghossian and Helen Pluckrose achieved notoriety when they spoofed academic journals by submitting completely made up research papers on grievance studies. Academic journals accepted papers on fat studies, feminism spirituality, and neoliberal choice feminism, and notably, one paper titled “Rape Culture and Queer Performativity at Urban Dog Parks.” published in Gender, Place and Culture.

Grievance studies affair

The grievance studies affair, also referred to as the “Sokal Squared” scandal, was the project of a team of three authors—Peter Boghossian, James A. Lindsay, and Helen Pluckrose—to highlight what they saw as poor scholarship and eroding criteria in several academic fields.Wikipedia

Hoax, the publication of bogus academic papers

I’ve followed them ever since, watched many of their interviews and check into James Lindsey’s website https://newdiscourses.com regularly.
I’m a participant in your bad habits. I also watch all the people you name including Jordan Peterson. All are reasonably fair and balanced in their POV’s. I’m also a fan of Blue Collar Logic and Matt Walsh.

A little on the dark side perhaps is The Z-Man blog which portrays the right from a dissident perspective.

Mark Dice has a sarcastic sense of humor while laying out the latest political mess.
I am suspicious though, he “used to be” a reporter for mainstream media. ABC I believe.

I just watched this, and frankly, it makes my blood run cold. How do we counteract this stuff? I’m thinking just stand firm in the truth, and refuse to be cowed.

Knowing about it and understanding the situation is half the battle. What really struck chords with me were the parts about how if you substitute a single word you have verbatim Maoist doctrines and the profoundly religious nature of the “woke cult”. I knew that we were dealing with leftism and quasi-religion but it really hit home the way Mr. Lindsay expressed things.

James Lindsay was speaking on the state of the situation, as for what to do about it that’s what we have Bill, Scott, Steve and others for. Bill Whittle is constantly suggesting courses of action that we can take. Not all of us can take all those actions. I.E. I for one am not a bit interested in running for a public office. The latest “Carrot and Stick” episode of MBTA is a very good encapsulation of both action and attitude.

Remember a couple things …

  1. The danger is coming from a tiny, very loud minority.
  2. The problem is to prevent that minority from winning converts to their cult.

I really might do that, thanks. Among some of your other choices, I don’t like Mark Dice’s delivery and demeanor, but someone else might change my mind. What do you think of Matt Christiansen? I wonder if he has a law degree, but only a little..

Matt Christiansen is a well-spoken and thought-provoking young man in flannel. I always consider his scripted analyses worth my time.

His collaboration with “the Blond” is unwatchable to me because I find the woman arrogant, self absorbed, superficial, and full of bias.

So, you’re saying you’re a sexist? 😉

I don’t watch his live streams for some of the same reasons..

She is an irritant who adds little of value to the stream. I watch Matt’s solo videos.

Tambien. To reiterate, I don’t like live streams in general, but I like Steven Crowder, both for the comedic attempts and the news.
