Speaking of Way Back in the Day on TSL, once upon a time Bill talked a lot about building parallel structures to enable conservatives to opt out of increasingly socialistic governments. He’s mentioned it a few times recently, but not with any practical bent.
Steve Turley is talking about this explicitly now. He had a virtual conference this month about how to do it, with everything from crypto-currencies to homeschooling and getting rid of mortgages and credit cards by using Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) instead (what “mortgage” used to mean a hundred years ago), entrepreneurship, etc.
I didn’t participate in the conference myself, but I thought old-timers around here might be interested to know that there’s at least one person out there pushing the concept. And maybe someone around here did participate in the conference and can fill us in on any nuggets of wisdom that are worth taking seriously.

Is there any news source covering the post-election investigations into ballot fraud other than Steve Bannon? He’s covering the Arizona forensic audit, and claims that Georgia will have one too. Whatever happened in Pennsylvania? Or Wisconsin?

Bill, the audio quality of the “space demo” is probably fine for inter-planetary distances. But for two guys 6 feet apart using audio tech of the 23rd century, I’m sure the frequency response would be vastly wider.
Besides, listening to that sharp, high “old phone voice” would get very fatiguing very quickly. (GREAT video work, though!)
Bill, you forgot the best part of the Free Frontier ad. At the end you were going to have one of the American ‘astronauts’ turn to the other and say “Don’t stand there gawking… go get the man’s bags.” The ‘astronauts’ turn out to be hotel staff.
Also, I have to correct you on “what the left wants” regarding disbanding the police. Certainly a lot of lower level leftists (or at least leftism mouthing opportunists) want is a freer hand to commit crimes. But the leadership’s endgame isn’t less police. Defunding the police, and encouraging good police officers to resign (surely you’ve noticed the post-trial swarm of ‘bots in right-wing forums encouraging right-wing police to resign before they wind up like Chauvin) is just the first step. They know that crime will then skyrocket and the general population will call for reinstituting and reinvigorating the police around the country. Which the left will ‘begrudgingly’ do, creating or filling the new National Police force (though perhaps with local color, but to National standards and National funding) with new police drawn from their own brownshirts. And unlike many of the current local peace officers… the new police forces will have no qualms about arresting people for distributing hate speech or processing unlawful firearms or taking part in an unlicensed worship service.
The Leftist leaders endgame is not to have no police to protect them. It is to endure a temporary reliance on private security while they get rid of the current crop of right-wing patriots that have traditionally filled Law Enforcement agencies, and cause the outcry that will let them build their new Executive Order Enforcement agencies (but without the kick-@$$ Hugo Boss styled uniforms this time).

Unreal isn’t China-Owned. It’s by Epic Games, which is an American Company, but 40% of Epic is owned by Tencent, which is a Chinese Company. So put it in the “influenced-by” category, but not the “owned” category.
