I could have gone the rest of my life not seeing/hearing this.
I am tempted to post a few songs that will stay in your head for a month! :- )
I am sorry. I believe purposeful exposure to ear worms is strictly against the BWdotCom T&C. Punishable by having to listen to an entire Joe Biden speech. Second infractions move it to Kamala Harris speeches.

Do not trust the pusher robot.
That is all.
One of my favorites is “Uptown Trump.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LV3hKT_mE4
(so tan!)
A current favorite is Miles Guo’s “Fight for Hong Kong,” aka “Take Down the CCP.”

I also love sea shanties, the laughing quadruplet babies, and the Marsh Family from the UK’s lockdown videos, such as “One Day More” (their first and possibly best, but they did at least a dozen).
Thanks for the recommendations. Will now go look at the Marsh Family vids.
Mrs Ron and I watched 7 or 8 of these last night. How fun and what a great family.
Yay! Thank Scott–I first heard about the “One Day More” video from him. But they have done a lot of good stuff since!
I’m surprised that the “Baby Shark” video hasn’t been taken down because it promotes heteronormative sex roles. What bigots!
Actually this video is tied for first. As a Ferguson, I have Scottish roots, and when I first heard bagpipes I loved them. Love this group. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hixw9UCskik
As a Wallace, I agree!
A lot of people have been chilling out watching videos of the lava coming out of the new Fagradalsfjall volcano near Reykjavík, Iceland. Its just out side of town, ~20 miles, so people are buying beers and heading for the lava flow show. One guy puts things in the path of the lava to see what happens. Another flew a drone onto the mouth of the volcano. That footage will be worth million. People have been getting high resolution 3d footage for the games industry. Ads are being made. Hundreds per day within a meter of the lava and so far no major injuries.

I can’t say it’s my absolute favorite, but it’s on up there: https://youtu.be/7OYkWSW7u4k
Beginning to end a great video and analysis. My niece’s children (5 & 2) have about half of the baby shark views. Because I’m 71, I very much appreciated the old dance and modern music. It is timeless isn’t it? Finally as a retired navy veteran, I could not be prouder of the navy today. Great video, thanks for all you do.
My thinking on this Baby Shark video is to embrace the healing power of “neither one”.
It’s not responsible, market age adult demographics that are watching Baby Shark. It’s parents of very, very young children playing it for their kids. Over, and over, and over again. In all likelihood those parents aren’t even watching it, at least not more than once.
Like I did.
As such, it’s no more influential on society nor a statement about the health of the human condition than Casper the Friendly Ghost or Mighty Mouse was when I was a kid. In fact, less so because those old cartoons usually contained some sort of moral lesson and Baby Shark is nothing more than audiovisual cotton candy. Any kid over two without a brain disorder would get pretty bored with it pretty fast.
A fair number of parents might have it playing on “repeat” for an infant or toddler just to give them some comforting noise in the crib but I doubt that’s going to cause any brain caries.
This is the problem with “the power of clicks”. The number of views of that video don’t really reflect anything significant because no one with any sort of decision making power is watching it for information or entertainment. It’s just a repetitive simple video and tune that appeals to very, very young kids.
If anything, it’s a pacifier and only effective as a pacifier on those who still have one in their mouths on a regular basis.
Rather than views or clicks I’d be interested to see figures on what drives the most revenue for advertisers (not from, for) on YouTube. There are probably some inferences that could be derived from that information.
…audiovisual cotton candy. . . nice one. I hate cotton candy.
I don’t know how I have gone so long without knowing what “Baby Shark” meant. Now I can die a happy “person who cannot give birth”. 8>)
I agree: Scott Bradlee & PMJ do some creative covers.
Steven, try checking out Pesach Funk from aish.

I’d never heard of the Uptown Funk video until it was first mentioned during the Backstage episode. When I watched it, I recognized 90+% of the movies (and have most of them). Good stuff.
The second you mentioned Tap the image of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Gregory Hines jumped into my head, followed by Eleanore Powell. Not to detract from all the other, but these were the first three of my own youth I remember and admire.
Ditto
On the subject of tap, many of you are familiar with the Nicolas brothers’ routine in Stormy Weather. If you’ve never the seen the colorized version, it’s here. It’s not 4K-level colorization, if you know what I mean, but it does give a bit of an impression of what it would’ve been like if you were there.
For those not familiar: Best. Tap. Ever.
My favorite video. I put it on the blog here as “This gives me joy” this past March.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xVuIVP6Pef8
The editing on that is fabulous.
Fantastic! The most incredible thing about the video is that 541 people would give it thumbs down. Seriously?
Thanks for sharing.
That was great!
Suggests to me that there are 8 billion people on this planet who need to get an education and find a real job. Too much time on too many folks’ hands.
Long, long ago in a more realistic galaxy not so far away. There was a much more dark version of “Baby Shark”….. Lets just say it doesn’t end that well for the swimmer…

I have heard several versions, but the video in this story was at least fun to watch. My children (20 or so years ago) sang and were taught similar dark version at school in kindergarten. They were not traumatized or safe-spaced, they understood even “Baby” sharks are dangerous and real. They had fun just learning and singing the song. Their song and CPR ended with a sad… “It’s to late…..” death scene. Ah, fond and fun memories.
I’m with you about the flightdeck of a carrier being the most dangerous environment in the world, but back up a few decades and imagine a deck of spinning propellers just before launch with deck handlers doing flight control checks with the pilots as in WWII. You will never witness anything more gruesome that someone hit by a propeller unless it’s combat with flying body parts! I’ve been there. You can never unsee something like that.
The guys in your video are wonderful and it helps to release some of the stress of flightdeck operations, but don’t for one minute think they don’t have their heads on what they are doing.
Several of my favorite TV shows were Quincy, House, CSI, NCIS, and on the lighter side Laverne & Shirley.
Bill, since you bring up the shooters, there’s something that makes this even more interesting. For most of them, this is their first time on a carrier.
While there are exceptions, the shooter billet is meant for non-carrier pilots (usually P-3 or P-8s) to get some flight deck time for their own career progression. That means they had to learn how a flight deck works and learn that job… on that tour. They’re usually not F-18 pilots with hundreds of traps under their belts.
Post Modern Jukebox is absolutely incredible. They work with amazing musicians and singers. One of my favorites from them is All About that Bass with a cool bass duet and featuring Ms. Rheinhart but also Morgan James and Ariana Savalas, whose dad you might know.
Also, their version of “Dream On” featuring Morgan James is brilliant.
I agree 100%, that was the song I first heard them sing, and I was hooked. Amazing work for the team, and amazing voices on those two young women.
i just paused you three and watched the up town video. then sent it to my posse of nine. awesome stephen. thanks so much.
Grey’s Anatomy ! Slowly I turned….. You’ve touched on my mania (one of them anyway)
In the very first episode a brand new doctor starting work the NEXT DAY as a surgical intern or resident whatever gets blitzed and sleeps with a stranger, does that sound plausible at all? She gets to work and her new boss is the guy she just slept with. The same premise could have been set up by having the sex happen two weeks earlier in Acapulco.
Wife liked it for a while, I completely gave up when it reached the point at which every character had slept with every other character, like a full bingo card.
As per Hollywood rule , of course, the only characters with stable marriages and home lives are the black characters, all others have messed up relationships with their families.
You got that right!
Scott,
Gavin McLeod was also Happy on McHale’s Navy. Another hilarious, politically incorrect show of the 60’s.
high and mostly negative in eastwood’s kelly’s heros.
What’s with the negative vibe, Moriarty?
indeed. that movie had an outstanding cast of characters. one of my all time favorite alpha male movies, even though sutherland turned into a hard core commie.
Great Escape. Hands down the best guy movie of all time. Hell, they even made a documentary about it, calling it the greatest guy movie of all time.
Worried or encouraged? To steal a favorite line of Steve’s, Embrace the healing power of “And”
Should we be worried about more important things? Yes. But maybe the fact that we still have the room to breathe isn’t all bad
Re Steve’s admiration for the dancing talent of old, here’s some Neo-swing. The song’s OK. But the dancers are pretty amazing. And there are some seriously brave ladies in this video.

That was magnificent.
When it finished, it wanted me to click on a video called “Bohemian Rhapsody Klingon Version.” I was not brave enough.

Baily Quarters
Those are the correct answers.
Baily Quarters – Never thought of that, good one!
