Saturday Night Videos – Jersey Boys!

While I’m still avoiding the news as much as possible until the end of summer (and you’re seeing me a lot less in the comments), I’m still going to keep dialing up vidoes. During the long rides that were part of this summer’s vacation, when nothing good was on the radio I’d tune into the music on my iPod & just go down the line from A-Z. Sister Babe complained about my horrible music when Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes came on, and I responded, “What could say summer vacation more than some good Jersey Shore music?” So let’s get to tonight’s list!

First off, I find it near criminal that this song never became a staple of FM Radio party music

Yeah, I know that over the years The Boss has turned out to be a bit of a tool, but it doesn’t take away who he was & what he did for a state that the butt of too many jokes back in the 70s. While there are others I’d rank ahead of Rosalita, the fun and enrgy of this performance captures who he was back then & what he meant for The Garden State

And of course, if we’re talking Jersey Boys, you have to include Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. Fun fact, while anyone who saw the play/movie about these guys you know that they got their name from a bowling alley in Union, NJ, but what you didn’t know was that The Four Seasons was the alley where Brother Bob did league play in his youth! And where in high school I’d go with older cowrkers who could sneak me beers…For a video I thought I’d go with something different and use a very memorable clip from The Deer Hunter:

And if you’re wondering where Old Blue Eyes is, he’ll be in next week’s post.

Who ya got?
