[* To my enormous relief, (not to mention surprise) the person hanging from the helicopter appears to be alive and well. – BW]
It’s not just the people being turned away at Kabul Airport who will never get over this.

I heard that the guards at the gate had bomb sniffers and detected something. Hence the dispersing of the people. They could not identify any attacker and it may be an error. Telling everyone to back off and spread out is the only response available if there’s a bomb in the group. That worked in Israel once.
I suspect there will be an investigation. Centcom say they turned people away with the email visa Biden sent out because they were duplicatable. We know they also turned away several bus loads of orphans and one family that was American born aid workers. One family they turned back has since made it to Panjshir and one to Pakistan. Iranian and India news are the best source right now. That’s ironic.
I have corresponded with Michael Yon since about 2010, and have met him in person twice. We have an interest in Thailand in common. I have supported him monetarily with recurring donations, first through PayPal, then Patreon, and now Locals. He is entirely reader supported. He’s actually in Panama at the moment, for the second time this year, documenting migrants coming through the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama, on the way to our Southern border, with a trip to Lithuania in between. That’s a whole other story worth following.
Michael has been helping coordinate Afghanistan rescue efforts behind the scenes from Panama, but has made the decision to get to Afghanistan and continue his efforts from there. It’s going to take quite a bit over and above what he normally operates on to do this and he is starting a GoFundMe (kind of risky given their hostility to anything the Left doesn’t like) which is linked from his Locals page (below). I’ll be making an extra contribution beyond my normal.

My faith in the US government got rattled when learning about the CIA satellite theft. Then learning about Tuskegee made me aware that things were not the way I thought they were. Since then I’ve learned of countless disgraceful things a supposedly good country has done to it’s own people not to mention other countries. You can’t be the “good guys” if you are doing the same despicable things that other governments have done. I still love my country, but we are not on the high road. Nor were we ever on it.
DEM politicians are soulless.
I attended a town hall meeting with Rep. Mike Garcia of California last night at the Reagan Library and the anger over Afghanistan was palpable. The media will do everything they can to remove this story from the news cycle, but as long as guys like Michael Yon can continue to get the word out there is still hope.
I feel your same sense of moral outrage over this Bill, but lack your erudition and articulation.
There is audio of shooting at night in Kabul. While many claim this is executions some note that its long inter changes of fire not short bursts indicative of executions. Someone may be fighting back in the night killing Taliban at check points etc. The Panjshir alliance may have people in the city disguised as Taliban that are hunting real Taliban. The Taliban and their allies are blaming ISIS-K while the MSM are claiming its fire works.
Yes, the chopper was dangling a guy in a rescue harness. The claim I saw is that its a rescue chopper and it would have been illegal under international law to take it or destroy it. 90% of the Afghan air force aircraft and people are out of the country. They have been loaned parts of several airbases in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and await orders.
The Taliban have attacked the Panjshir valley twice loosing about 300 men each time. The Panjshir Resistance hold part of Parwan and Kapisa Provinces, they hold key parts of Baghlan province including the Salang Tunnel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salang_Tunnel So the Taliban can’t move back and forth to the north of the country.
The Taliban are scared. The longer the Panjshir Resistance holds out the more international support it gets. Only three countries have recognized the Taliban and one Saudi Arabia has a pro-Trump leader MbS.
In my opinion the valley can hold out for years. It has no air field; I believe that’s because the airfield could be taken by force.
Bill, there in ONE group of people I find MOST guilty of the crimes in Kabul; The senior enlisted in EVERY service. As a retired Marine the BIGGEST change I found in my 20 years was the decline of the senior leaders who were supposed to be the bulwark of letting the CO know he was putting his troops at risk. In my mind EVER SGTMAJ CMCH, SMSTCH are guilty as HELL for forgetting they were supposed to represent the ENLISTED concerns to the officer Corps! The are as rotten as the flag officer’s and EVERY SGTMAY position past a Regiment should be abolished because they have FAILED miserably! Gunnery Sergeant USMC (Ret)
Bill, you mentioned a TV appearance yesterday. Obviously you can’t post them here but do any of your feeds (facebook, etc) give media alerts? I could be wrong, but I think you have a small army that would happily upvote and share any such clips
The over arching problem is/was that the military was the last theoretical bulwark between us citizens and a Thug government intent on controlling and enslaving us.
The rot in the military goes back at least as far as Benghazi when no one, high command or ordinary soldier, spoke up when our ambassador and soldiers were tortured and killed.
(And no American child plays with red-coated soldiers and Minute Men re-enacting the American Revolution; most don’t even know that there was a revolution).
as a vietnam vet dec1968-dec1969 101st lz sally 502. i find the american military an odious cancerous puss. to be clear…i was not drafted but was RA
excellent rant bill. i am sending this to my entire posse of nine. probably four will watch it. it’s all i can do anymore. fubar.
Poignantly stated, Mr. Whittle. In his piece, “Importing Enemies” at americanmind.org, Micheal Anton writes, “It’s hard not to conclude that our government hates us. That conclusion, at any rate, fits the observable facts of its actual behavior.” When I consider their Afghanistan perfidy, their open borders criminality, their refusal to prosecute gun felons, their prison release of the repeatedly violent, the deaths of despair they have caused by home imprisonment of the healthy law-abiding, the mounting evidence of viral escape from their leaky Covid mass vaccination, their barring of safe, effective early treatments, their threats of medical license revocation of the medical heroes brave enough to prescribe them anyway, their forced exposure to a deadly illness on our most medically fragile, the unknown reproductive risks they are forcing on our young people, and the hopelessness bred by their widespread destruction of untold numbers of small businesses, I conclude that our government doesn’t simply hate us, it is actively conspiring to kill us.
…unless you ( as they do) also hate america. then they love you. feminism, soy, ritalin, title 1X, teachers unions, k-12 administrations.and revisionist history are destroying our once great constitutional republic.
“Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” vladimir lenin as bill stated in this video ‘we are all scared for life’. cold anger keeps me from even speaking to those who voted for biden.
It’s so sad that it’s gotten to that point, isn’t it, Donald? When in the throes of anger, you are wise to keep silent. After all, any attempt at persuasion or illumination would likely be the equivalent of rubbing the puppy’s nose in its mess long after the fact – both unpleasant and unproductive. However, it’s best to find a way to alleviate our anger. “Anger: an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” – Lucius Annaeus Seneca (Seneca the Younger) What’s worked for me is this prayer from Psalm 83: Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Lord. On a secular level, I have faith that the truth of superior ideas ultimately wins.
Yes, it may be naive, but I understood when Bill mentioned that sickening sense of betrayal when you suddenly realize, “Wait! You mean I can’t trust our armed forces to do the right thing? But, they’ve been my heroes all my life!”
At the very least Biden should have had several resignations on his desk from Joint Chiefs / Sec State / Sec Def especially if true that we knew about the suicide bomber and could have taken him out.
You’re Damn right!
it was probably called by biden himself. thank a d’rat voter today for this mess we’re in.
Why would you think that? The top brass in our military are the ones who Obama/Biden spent 8 years shepherding up the ranks by pushing out the competent leadership
