Beyond parody
In a comment on the RA on the treatment being meted out to the people involved in the events of 6th January I posted about the double standards being applied across the Anglosphere with a picture of British coppers dragging a an enraged driver away from Extinction Rebellion protesters blocking the M25, the orbital motorway around London. They have done this three times in the last week and caused huge amounts of delay and disruption. Here is a link to an LBC news page with some videos of police “dealing” another group of them. The second one down is unbelievable. Remember, they are not sitting peacefully in a park making their point, but deliberately closing down a very important road and holding up thousands of cars, vans, trucks ambulances and Lord knows what. Honestly, it is not from a satirical sketch show.
As an antidote to the last clip, here is one of what happened when some XR activists delayed London commuters by climbing on top of tube trains on a cold winter’s morning back in 2019. It’s a feel good video and still gives me a warm fuzzy.
UPDATE
Yesterday, 2oth Sept. Extinction Rebellion again blocked the M25, a woman being taken to hospital was paralysed by a stroke while being delayed by the protesters.
