Saturday Night Videos – Halloween Music, Ozzy-less Black Sabbath!

No Ozzy, no problem! Because when you’re mutha-fudgin’ Sabbath losing your front man doesn’t slow you down! Ozzy was seamlessly replaced by The Crown Prince of Heavy Metal, Ronnie James Dio. Let’s start with the 1-2 punch of E5150 & Mob Rules:

After two solid albums with Dio, Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan joined and gave us one highly underrated album in Born Again. The first time I saw this video was on a UHF channel that was trying to mimick MTV. It was late and in the dark as I watched on my 14″ TV, and I’m not ashamed to admit that it gave me the creeps. Still does:

Now let’s jump back and then forward, to where Dio would eventually reunite with Sabbath, but for legal reasons would perform under the name “Heaven and Hell”. Here’a a powerful live performance of The Sign of the Southern Cross

And finally, back to Born Again and a PSA to all of the kids out there going out to celebrate tonight – don’t drink and drive or else you’ll get chased by a bunch of low budget zombies wearing the same masks from the Born Gain video (seriously, look at both. They really couldn’t spring for extra costumes)!

Hey bud. Just wanted to dip in real quick and say thanks for posting! I’ll enjoy these later today and comment. Have a lot going on right now. Have a feeling things are about to get crazy. Virginia race today and the free speech platforms are on the rise. Plus just watched this last night. They’ve been gathering evidence all this time for the steal…

Plus Tucker just released his reporting on Jan. 6th. Have a feeling this revolution may happen a lot faster than anyone thinks.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

LOL! “Ozzy was seamlessly replaced?!” NOPE!
I’m one of those people (purists) who never liked Black Sabbath without Ozzy, it just wasn’t Sabbath without John. Don’t get me wrong, Ronnie Dio was a great singer/writer and I loved all his Dio stuff (and Rainbow), but you just can’t replace Ozzy. Same thing with Van Halen and Dave, but that’s another debacle altogether.

Fair enough, definitely a different band posyt-Ozzy, and agreed on VH. Of course, let’s not blame Sammy since it was Ed’s writing. At first after the split both were still writing good music, and when they each went downhill it was fast and hard (Little Aint Enough, F.U.C.K).

Agree on both counts. Dio and Hagar filled in admirably for a while as Brother Bob says, but it’s always hard to match the original. Ozzy and Dave both had that extra swagger, that “it” factor which put them a cut above. Thanks for joining us in the Friday/Saturday Night Video room!!!
