Right Angle: Backstage (01-18-2022)

The pause that refreshes is back…if by ‘pause’ you mean three men who ceaselessly yammer for nearly an hour while pretending to have a production ‘meeting.’

So why doesn’t Union Pacific place signs every 50 feet that say, “Trespassers will be shot,” and then post some snipers. The problem would be solved within a week.

If you like (I mean really like) black licorice, you haven’t lived until you’ve tried salmiakki. It’s Finnish, and seasoned with ammonia salts. Smells like a catbox at first, and the taste gets some getting used to…but once you’ve acclimated to it, my God is it addictive. It’s like no other black licorice you’ve ever tried.

Scott, you were on fire today! Bill totally missed your “it never rains in California” song lyrics, but I got it! Also, I absolutely love black licorice — black vines, black jelly beans, anise-flavored cookies. Now I need to find your licorice-flavored tea!

I bought licorice root tea on eBay and Amazon, it’s strong and a little goes a long way.

I own a successful full time home based online business. We produce courses for people and all our courses come with an unconditional no questions asked full refund guarantee… We get very few refund requests but people are often shocked at how fast we refund…It’s just good business. That said, I have had a tiny number of people go directly to actually doing a PayPal dispute rather than simply ask for a refund. They just assume (erroneously) that the refund guarantee won’t be honored. Sad.

Yes, I find masks in the street and on the sidewalk when I take my usual daily walk through the neighborhood. Such fun, wonder what’s in them Scott?

Name one other country about which there are movies like “Far and Away” or “American Tale”, or that people sing songs about, like Niel Diamond’s “America”.

Seriously, Scott, you and Zo need to meet up at the Feed Store Barbecue on White Chapel Rd. in Southlake. The guy who owns it is truly a master at smoking things. It’s kind of a midway point, and you can genuinely meat up!
I live in Kaufman now, but it’s still worth the 60 mile drive at least once a year.

Nice way to start a morning, thank you gents! Looking forward to these.
Scott – do people still refer to it as Dallas / Fort Worth? I thought it has been just Dallas for at least a decade with the Fort Worth being implied. I mean, NYC has 5 boroughs, but it has been a long time now that if you were going to NY, it was implied you were going to Manhattan and might visit one of the other boroughs. But nobody says I’m going to Brooklyn.

Bill, what you need to do is move to Austin first. It’s just like LA in almost every way. After you aclimate you can move to Georgetown or Elgin or sumptin.

I’ve been using the same gatter(sp) since this whole ‘demic began. I’m gonna get to be so virtuously smug when we get to the “MASKS ARE KILLING GAIA!” phase.

Scott: “People tell me things I don’t want to know…” so I have to tell you what you didn’t want to know either.

Love the stories where the poachers are killed by the animals they are hunting. Some are trampled by the elephants and others mauled by lions.

I suppose one way you could avoid being hassled at the border of a free state is having a referral from a resident, just like we do for immigrants from other countries.

I’m with Scott on the Good’n’Plenty. 🙂

One thing came to mind during Steve’s part where Bill was talking about his Gratitude and his “punch through” line – his essay on Magic. Also some standup comics have talked about the miracles about this era, like air flight taking 4 hours to cross the country when it used to take months. One had the line that with deaths and births the group that left wasn’t the same as the group that arrived.

One idea I had regarding the Union Pacific robbery story when I saw it was maybe it was time to resurrect the Pinkertons (which Scott just mentioned as I am typing) and put armed guards on the train.

If they do go with the “no escape from LA” title that would refer to the packages trying to leave, not so much the residents as the movie did.
