Cold wars still have casualties. Most of them involve emotional damage to one victim or another. I think we can see the “triggly-puffs,” feminists, antifas, and all manner of human detritus as a result of the cognitive and political divide between the two sides. One side went for societal collapse. The other side went for cultural conservation.
Do we have a cold civil war? Indeed. Will we avoid having to deal with our casualties? No. No, and a thousand times, no. We’re dealing with them now as (mostly) urban “no-think zones.” The truth, flowering at some later date, will show that they will either have to grow up and change their assumptions, or they will wither under the heat of burning truth.
We cannot avoid the aftermath of our cold civil war. The cry for an outright “hot” civil war presumes that we could deal with the aftermath faster, and thereby, less painfully.
I don’t think multiplying the misery by orders of magnitude would help. But that’s just me. And reason doesn’t seem to affect either side of the battle lines calling for a shooting war.
Do we want to paraphrase what Inspector Kemp said in Young Frankenstein, “a hot civil war is an ugly thing… and it’s about time we had one!”
I don’t want one. That doesn’t mean I can forestall one.
I don’t want one either. I think that at least in part, those saying it’s time for one think we could get through the “war” stage faster and actually start dealing with the aftermath sooner.
I don’t claim to know enough to say whether that point of view has any validity or not. But I can sympathize with those who think if we have no choice but to be in a war, we can at least admit it and start acting like it, on the presumption that the sooner it actually starts, the sooner it’s over and the cleanup begins.
But regardless of what you or I want, there are a couple of things I think should be acknowledged as having real impact on the equation.
1) The enemy gets a say.
2) The Soap Box, the Ballot Box and the Jury Box have all demonstrably failed. Whether that means any or all of them have no chance of succeeding again short of “hot” civil war is something well above my paygrade, I can’t call that shot. Nonetheless, the first 3 boxes have provably failed.
Even if the left took their cities out of the Republic It would not be a viable nation but a set of 3 to 7 city states; all bankrupt and dependent on the rest of the nation for food, water, power, etc. New York city, Los Angelis, San Francisco, Austin, Atlanta Chicago, Detroit, and half of Seattle are too far apart to form a coherent entity like the south did.
The wasp analogy is good but does not hold for the majority of wasp species. Where ever you find such a dead end reproductive cycle you find that there are many related species in the family that have a more normal reproductive cycle. God created wasps to be much more general and normal. Mutation since the fall makes two or three sub species a bit weird. The same is true for most other insect families.
People get the forbidden tree wrong it was not the tree of knowledge it was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. There are two ways to get knowledge. Be taught by a good teacher, in this case God walking in the garden with them or doing the dangerous experiment. The tree was that experiment and a test. Without the test there is no choice of listening and rejecting, there can be no truth because there is no chance of the lie. Adam and Eve failed the test. God knew they would and made provision for it but the choice was not knowledge verses ignorance it was dangerous disobedience verses listening to God’s teaching in person. He walked in the garden. I’m not sure where Alfonso gets his theology from but there are interesting flaws in what he was taught.
The multimedia’s efforts at polarization have been hugely successful. I am wholly repulsed by the policies, dishonesty, and behavior of the Left and they are similarly disposed to me, a self-professed “right-of-Rush Limbaugh”, Christian, white male. I used to make a real effort to listen to the views of others, defaulting to NPR on the way to work for a couple of decades, reading left-wing books recommended to me by my high school chum who went to Princeton and is a lawyer, …, you get the idea. I got fed up and abandoned trying when the Kavanaugh confirmation joke led to my friend and me blowing up at each other.
There is a battle field and our differences are awfully hard to reconcile.
While the “forbidden fruit” is actually unknown, the fig is as good of an answer as any. But I don’t think the fruit actually exists anymore. It was unique after all.
I do pretty well avoiding the algorithms that tailor the content for the viewer. But I’m not a Liberal that needs to know the Truth. Hopefully there’s at least a few on the left that are knowledgeable enough to figure it out too. I’m not going to hold my breath though. lol
Personally I think we have been in a “cold civil war” since Bill Ayers was a teenager.

That’s what they want. Stephen Green said it. They’re Jacobins, they want to destroy everything, declare Year Zero, and start over… with themselves in charge.
When they openly tell you how evil they are… believe them.
When I saw that guy tell Savana Hernandez that he wanted to kill babies, you see the evil. I believe him.
The left condones, if not outright instigates, violence, terrorism, and property destruction. Look at the old terrorist-bomber turned professor Bill Ayers, the BLM riots, Antifa mobs, etc. Look at the lawless DEM-ruined sanctuary cities with their gang shootings and high murder rates. The left follows the ideology of Saul Alinsky to create conflict to bring down the system.
People need to lose the romantic notion of a civil war being quick, easy and fun.
