Republican Congressman caught on hidden camera video makes the stunning confession that he’d like to do what Trump-backing Republicans have been saying publicly for a long time. Anti-Trump PAC founder Scott Dworkin retweets it in an attempt to “make it go viral”. At this writing, it has 375 views. How is this different from James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas videos, and why?

cute baby! kind of adds to the ambiance of deranged right wing Trumpian!
“Bring in the Clowns”, OH that’s right, they already did!!
watched a few of the Undercurrents videos and a few things became immediately obvious to me
1- They think that disagreeing with Dems is “scandalous”
2- They don’t understand how entrapment works.
3- Accusing equals guilt.
4- Legal, Constitutional actions which benefit Republicans is Bad.
LOL Difference between Demonrats and DECENT people: Demonrats get caught in lies. DECENT people “get caught” telling the truth. LOL (EPIPHANY: So THAT’S why the Leftist vermin have been waging war trying to criminalize reality!)
I learned something today!! The [opposite] of [hypocrite]. An [honest] and true person. Hypercrite. Thanks!!!
Ah … there is the definition for which I was searching. Hypo versus hyper … duh … it’s now so obvious.
If they’d have openly and obviously stuck a mic in this congressman’s face while holding a visible video camera on him they’d have gotten the same answers.
The thing I find interesting about this is that these anomalous anti-Trump weirdos think this is anything remarkable at all. Let alone so remarkable as to be scandalous.
This is a symptom of what I call ‘The Bubble Culture Phenomena’. We’ve all heard the phrase ‘echo chamber’ many times before. The Bubble Culture is an echo chamber dosed with mega-steroids and Bruce Banner-esque gamma radiation turning it into a large green monster that only wants to smash things.
People have a natural tendency to clump up with other like minded people and then exclude any information that doesn’t suit their confirmation bias while replacing reality with their own invented version of the world. Everyone does this to some degree but the people who succumb to this fully are not the brightest candles in the jack-o-lantern. From that sort you get some really wild cognitive disconnects.
Examples would be the Ku Klux Klan, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, the Weather Underground, etc. Clearly this Scott Dworkin PAC and their Under Current ripoff of Project Veritas fits in this category.
Groups like this tend to cluster together and create a feedback loop among themselves. They often assign nefarious purpose to mundane situations because it feeds their narrative. When there is no mundanity to reinterpret they just make things up.
This is not a problem solely of our political adversaries. Conservative leaning people do this too. It’s a universal aspect of the human condition not merely something done by people we don’t like. We all suffer in some degree with confirmation bias. The thing is to measure bias against what makes sense and what is more likely than not.
One of the things I personally like about Bill & Co. is that we usually get several takes on the topic. Bill is a very pragmatic guy. Scott studies a broad range of sources and brings alternate viewpoints to the table. Steve is good at giving us the straight dope from a Conservative viewpoint. For a conservative outlet we get a very good, brief view of reality viewed through a conservative lens.
All of that works together to keep the membership here from becoming a Bubble Culture. It probably costs the enterprise more than a few subscriptions too but that’s the price of trying to portray reality rather than just sell people what they want to hear.
In the most recent Stratosphere Lounge, Bill addressed the likelihood of America heading for a nuclear war with Russia. As far as I’ve been able to tell and I’ve done considerable research on the topic — Bill got it exactly right and put things in terms that I have been using myself. GMTA
Scott tries to broaden our views and keep us grounded in reality. I don’t always agree with Scott but I greatly appreciate that he makes the effort. For doing that Scott is sometimes pilloried even by the membership here and is very often the focus of hate out in the wild where these videos post on YouTube. This is not right. Scott bravely sticks to his guns, and reality, and his own principles to keep us grounded.
Steve is more than a little like us having our own personal Andrew Breitbart.
This team was selected well.
A big part of avoiding something like a Bubble Culture is simply being aware of the phenomena. Which is why I took the trouble to explain all this here in my comment.
What I really want to know is what is a “hypercrite”?
Its part of the hypercritic oath: “First, do harm.”
What!!!?? That’s wrong?
Maybe its the oath of progressives😏
Yeah, that’s it!
No Harry, you’re thinking of the Hippocratic Oath, that’s the one that starts with “First, do no harm.”
The Hypercritic Oath is much simpler …
Break everything.
Build nothing.
Blame others.
Leftie Hypocrite level set at 11.
“Getting caught with the head cheerleader and her best friend” Made my day.
“Dear Penthouse, I can’t believe this happened to me…”
I had one of those random out-of-the-blue Penthouse moments happen to me once.
I was driving down the freeway in the rural part of a midwestern State headed to an assignment when a car full (4 or so) of cute young college aged women pulled up beside me.
I was much younger and fitter then, wearing a black T-shirt and a black combat blouse, which you would probably call an “army shirt” or “army jacket”. That was what I wore back then because it didn’t make me look like I was in an active duty military uniform and the long multi pocketed blouse nicely covered the .45 ACP Colt Commander I wore in a pancake holster on my strong hand side. People tell me I looked fairly handsome back then and I’m flattered a bit by that so you can take it as you will. I don’t really care. That was all the car full of young women could see of me.
The car matched my speed and one of the young ladies in the back seat just a couple feet away from me held up a hand written sign inked in a spiral notebook that said …
“Honk if you like sex”.
Now it’s possible I misinterpreted their intentions but I don’t think so. They might have just been doing some sort of psychology 101 exercise but that’s not the immediate impression I got from the situation.
I smiled, held up my left hand and tapped my wedding ring on the window of the driver’s side door of my car.
They all gave me a thumbs up and nodded vigorously, then sped on down the freeway presumably to look for another suitable candidate for whatever they had in mind.
I don’t know what happened to those young ladies after that but I do know one thing and it’s a thing I hope stuck with all of them the rest of their lives.
That thing being not all males of our species act like mutts.
Any story with a Colt Commander in it is a good story.
LOL
Well …
It is a nice, flat, easily concealed sidearm of considerable authority. The one I was wearing that day had some aftermarket modifications. It had been ported and throated, a match grade barrel and bushing, three dot sights, an extended beavertail, tuned trigger, contoured grips and stuff like that. I can’t remember but I think I got most of the aftermarket parts from Kimber and Wilson. I did all the work myself. Back then they hadn’t outlawed them yet so I carried it stuffed with Winchester Black Talon ammo and two spare mags. I still have a few mags worth of that laying around somewhere.* I always carried it in “Condition One”; round in battery, cocked and locked.
It wasn’t a stock Colt so if you’re a Colt purist and that detracts from the story my apologies.
The 1911-A1 family of frames are an ‘old man’s gun’ but I’m so familiar with them that there’s just no way I’m switching to something more ‘modern’. The way I see it, the design might be pushing 100 years old but you can’t improve on perfection other than to jazz it up a bit.
(*Now I handload Hornady XTPs, just slightly on the hot side and only use those in social situations. This gives me more reliable functioning, the target will never feel the difference between those and a standard load. I’m reluctant to carry the Black Talons because of legal issues regarding outlawed ammo if I have to use them. I practice in the back yard with ball, don’t need to hammer the frame needlessly.)
“Keep your voice down”
“Why?”
“I need to get something off my chest.”
“What?”
“Men shouldn’t compete against women in women’s sports.”
“Oooh. More?”
“They should lock up people who have assaulted strangers a bunch of times. Definitely habitual murderers.”
“Shocking.”
“And there should be police in places where crime is through the roof.”
“Controversial!”
“We should respect the Constitution of the United States of America.”
“crazy talk.”
“I know that this is escalating with each whisper, but the President should be replaced if he has clinical dementia greater than stage five, as assessed by two or more neurologists.”
“No!”
I wish I could up vote this about 10 times.
I especially wish i had posted it.
Well done!👍
I thought that I would get an expanded list, continued by this comments section. Like;
“Anybody that thinks you should abort a child, especially one that would be viable outside the womb, has lost their humanity and should be asked to define the word murder.”
“Don’t go there!”
“Let’s make this go viral!”
“Your terms are acceptable”
