The media and academics are miffed with Italy’s first female Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, because she’s not a feminist, says she has not suffered sex discrimination in politics, opposes abortion, and wants to help young mothers. In fact, they say her focus on maternity is a feature of fascism. Why do you think the information gatekeepers can’t celebrate the accomplishments of this young woman?

A little quibble with Steve’s assessment on what the cultural marxist third wave is about. It’s indeed about keeping men down, but it is *not* about lifting anybody up. It is *all* about destruction.
I always find it amusing (in a very sad way) when someone accuses a right leaning politican of being a Fascist. This is especially disheartening in the country whose socialist dictator created Fascism as a way to distinguish his socialism from Lenin and Stalin’s socialism (Communism) and Hitler’s socialism (National Socialist German Worker’s Party).
But I guess I should be grateful to old Benito, his love of socialism in the form of Fascism convinced my grandfather to leave Italy for America when he was just 18 years old with only a few Lira and a duffle bag of clothes.
Now his great-granndchildren are doing very well, living the freedom as Scott might say. The youngest is 22 the oldest is 29 and they all are contributing members of society. One is a Marine Raider. He keeps the others in line! (and scares his female cousins’ boyfriends).
Italy is an old, beautiful land, but those folks don’t remember life before the gov’t controlled everything. My fear is we are one generation away from that ourselves.
This election in question, in one of the most Left leaning European nations, is a very encouraging development.
Personally I don’t care even a little bit if the new Prime Minister is a man or a woman. Maggie Thatcher did OK so I hope this new woman is somewhere in that vicinity. In fact, the ‘momma bear factor’ might even be a plus.
The Left has been around a long time, since the French Revolution where the terms “right wing” and “left wing” got started. The current version is one or another flavor of Marxist Communism. Which is a virulent siren song that has been trying to take over the world since the Russian Bolshevik Revolution. (Yes, Communism was trying even before that but that’s the first real step where it succeeded in actually taking over a country.)
Humankind has been plagued with this putrid, vile ideology for around a hundred years. That’s a very long time to figure out something not only doesn’t work but actually does exactly the opposite of what it claims.
However, it appears people are finally figuring that out and that’s a very hopeful sign.
As for what the Left has to say about this woman, who cares? She’s there because she doesn’t want their idiotic way of doing things and is clearly not going to heed what they say anyway.
She needs to take a few pages from Trump’s playbook and Make Italy Great Again. If she does that then the next Leftist that gets elected will have no alternative but to Make Italy Poor Again and the contrast will be as clear and obvious as Biden’s American Travesty vs. Trumps American Prosperity.
Venomism & Venomist needs their own memes.
You are incorrect, Zo. Just because that new PM claims to be unaffected by discriminatory practices, does not mean she needs to be more careful with her words. The fact that she made such an unapolgetic claim indicates that dwelling upon such a victimhood mindset is anathema to her thinking. When people become obsessed with either being the victim or with not offending those who claim to be, then our culture is corrupted with things like political correctness. Once a person shakes off such things, that person is free of its bondage.
That being said, let’s stop projecting what we perceive as potential offenses to so-called “victims” upon those who don’t play such stupid minds games.
When Giorgia Meloni says she hasn’t experienced problems advancing in her Party because she is a woman, I believe her. Physically attractive women are winning political elections everywhere. They are the currency of the day for Parties out of power in particular. Just like every other aspect of day-to-day life, seemingly, good looking people get a pass.
The shallowness of voting blocks has never been more evident, and I predict this latest trend will accelerate to the point of ridiculousness. It’s not inconceivable that there will be a swimsuit competition for President in our future. Look at these latest Republican representatives and candidates for governorship.
I think it is just because women with true conservative values who live their lives that way are more fulfilled and content than the harpies on the left, therefore they are more attractive on the outside. There are some exceptions on the left but not many. As to unattractive, shrewish conservative women, everyone knew Liz Cheney was not really conservative.
Attractive people might be able to rise easier in political areas than others, but those are people that have some political chops, motivations and skill on top of that.
There are some shallow, puppet faces as well, but there their attractiveness isn’t as much a factor as the skill of those behind them pushing them forward.
I think Ron does have part of it though.. people who are comfortable in their own skin and with their own skills are content and that can give an air of competance, since being good at something and knowing you are good means you are going to be comfortable doing or talking about it.
Pretty people skating through life does happen as long as someone wants to be seen with them, and thus appear pretty themselves. The same goes for people with some other kind of power, or money or other popularity as people seek to “get something” from them.
An “ableist” woman.
Brothers of Italy needs rebranding. Rename them “Siblings of Italy”.
In Italian, the organization would be Fratelli d’Italia. While Fratello means brother, in a romance language, Fratelli can be either “brothers” or “siblings”. Context matters. As the masculine plural can be interpreted as “all” for an organization. Sorella and sorelle would be sister and sisters respectively.
If I were speaking of my brothers in arms, in a co-ed army, I would not in Italian say fratelli e sorelle, it would just be fratelli and everyone would understand it meant all of us.
Except for members of academia who need to parse words to sow disagreement, they would claim it meant masculine only. They would know that it is not, but they would say it anyway.
Leftists only approve of success if they can claim credit for it.
There’s no such thing as female though, right?
There’s no such thing as a woman. At least that seems to be the attitude on the Left as they cannot seem to find an applicable definition for the word ‘woman’.
There are all kinds of females: biological females, trans females, gay females, BIPOC females, effeminized soy-boy female worshipping wannabe females, female impersonators (which were and are rightfully called ‘transvestites’) etc. That’s just the tiny sample that’s leaked through my ‘don’t give a flying rat’ filters, I’m sure any good Leftist college student could name many more.
