WNBA basketball player Britney Griner returns to the USA, after 10 months in Russian custody, thanks to a Biden Administration trade for ‘Merchant of Death’ arms dealer Viktor Bout. What does this trade say about America’s commitment to bring our own home, and what we’re willing to do to fulfill that promise? Does it really matter that Griner previously called for silencing the National Anthem before games as a form of protest against police racism and brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

I think this basketball…… “star??”… colluded with the Biden Regime to enable this trade. They longed to have SOME justification for releasing this enemy of America. HOW LONG does a person, or a Party, have to bat 1.000 against the interests of America, and decency itself, before he’s/it’s recognized as being the traitor that he/it is??
One point the gents didn’t make.
This admin has essentially opened the door to every nation that gets travelers from USA to find the American doing something illegal and convicting them with the harshest of punishments in order to get Biden to trade something for them.
What happens when an American breaks a law in Saudi Arabia? Or China? There will be no leniency shown. Quite the opposite. They will make an example of the American and lots of publicity in order to wrangle concessions from our State Dept.
The pattern is set. Be careful going abroad. More than usual.
Anything Biden says about gun control from here on out should be not only ignored but the hypocrisy should be pointed out. His narrative is now null and void.
Kiss it good bye, America. This stupid trade just tied up the woman and black vote for the next 500 years, and don’t think for a second the party won’t play it up perpetually. That’s 2.5 times as long as LBJ bragged he’d have them voting for dems. All this for the party who fought against the end of slavery, civil rights for freed slaves, the 1965 CRA, and women’s suffrage.
Woman vote – no my wife is just as disgusted by this as I am.
Alphabet mafia vote – they had it.
Black vote – not sure this plays as well as the admin thinks it does. The right message can still get through.
Of course, I agree with Bill that this was a bad trade, and I am also not glad that Griner has returned to the USA, which she apparently loathes. HOWEVER, it is unclear that Paul Whelan wasa better choice. Some may recall that according to military records, he was convicted of several charges related to larceny, and then he was discharged for bad conduct :
news article: https://tass.com/world/1038821JAG document: https://www.jag.navy.mil/courts/documents/archive/2008/WHELAN,%20P.N.%20200800152%20PCE.pdf).Now, given the JAG document, that 2019 article appears to be correctly-relaying facts; however, I do not presume those charges validate Whelan’s current situation. My point is that neither choice appears to be better than the other.
I remain disgusted about two things related to this political debacle:
It appears that Griner was chosen over Whelan solely because she fits the politically correct, woke agenda of the current Administration.Russia is dictating terms to the USA.I have neither empathy nor respect for the current potato-in-chief; however, it seems, from a certain perspective, that the claims by his Administration are actually true: Griner or nobody. It pains me to write that.
Speaking of forgetting something. Well, some traveler at the airport in Madison Wisconsin forgot that his dog was in his backpack and ran it thru the xray machine. DOG is doing fine.
“Forgot”??? How does one forget a dog in a backpack?
What is shameful is that when she returns to the BB court and is introduced the crowd will rise and give her a hearty applause. SICK!
I’m guessing that when we got this Bout guy extradited from Thailand, we had to give them something/somebody. So, in essence, Griner cost us Bout plus some unknown number of previously unnamed players.
Ultimately, Biden had no choice but to do this deal for HIS administration. Think about the screaming and moaning we’d have heard if, instead of Griner, he brought home a decorated veteran instead. Screaming at the sky would have been the minimum.
I now eagerly await Biden’s book coming out on how to make deals.
Its interesting that Biden and his people are bowing to Putin on many things, the Democrats would gladly abandon Ukraine if they could get away with it. Europe is in the same position. They hate Putin because he flipped from been very pro-LGBT to the extreme anti-LGBT when a homosexual male couple was caught abusing’s the Russian boy they adopted. Europe tuned on Putin and things have escalated badly.
The EU elites also hate Zelenskyy because he beat their mate Petro Poroshenko. Zelenskyy also backed up Trump in both impeachments and when the Dems attacked Trump claiming weapons delays.
However everyone is limiting what they do to Putin and for Zelenskyy because of the Russian nuclear arsenal. If Russia did not have nukes then Griner would be home without a trade.
Trump intentionally questioned whether Putin had lost control of his WMD, the polonium poisoning, or was Putin in control and the poisoner? (This question was in private and then public!) Putin had no answer. Trump also asked whether the Russian arsenal of nuclear weapons actually worked. Nuclear weapons can expire like milk. The US had problems with its tritium trigger in its hydrogen bombs.
In the past two months Russia seems to have confirmed Trumps query with a NO! The Russians announced 2 nuclear tests at the Baring Sea testing facility north of Vladivostok. Both were canceled in the last few hours. Then two more were announced and cancelled a few hours before the test time. Experts say the timings of the cancelations imply that the Russians, on checking the bombs, either can’t find a working one or can’t safely arm the warheads without them detonating on the spot. These test can’t be bluffs, that sends totally the wrong signal if there no earth shattering boom. The whole Russian Nuclear arsenal may have only been maintained sufficiently to prevent accidental detonations but not sufficiently well maintained to keep them usable. Radiation embrittlement of components and transmutation of trigger isotopes and moderators may have disabled the bombs.
Biden’s people did a really bad trade while ignoring evidence that the Russians may have lost their last playable card.
The trade is bad but there may be some wonderful kama coming to Viktor Bout, a lot of the weapons sold in Africa came from Russian armories illegally. Putin and the FSB will have signed off on Bouts trades but they don’t seem to have been tracking where he got the weapons. Once they got in a real shooting war the Russians discovered they had empty armouries and kilotons of parts and ammo missing. Whole units were unserviceable and lacking ammo and parts to train with.
Russian military bloggers are looking for someone blame. Viktor Bout is the fence for all those corrupt Russian officers. There are people who already drop his name. Bout may get welcomed with a parade and hugs but may later face a secret trial and a very nasty jail or execution.
Color me hopeful.
Is there a scorecard where the Dems check-off the absolute number of victim-blocks a person represents so they get more “special dispensation”?
If so, BG is a poster child for their person of the year, as Bill said, a hero of the “Alphabet Mafia”.
Does anybody else think that whoever handles Ms Griner might be smart enough to recommend to her that she stand for the National Anthem? I know she won’t on her own.
I think there is more of a likelihood that she make a similar mistake in the future because she got off the first time, just like a child with no defined boundaries.
I’m losing my ability to be astonished at what this horrifically corrupt administration allows. When I learned this trade had been made, I saw it as an extension of the Afghanistan atrocity. I’ve begun to feel as hopelessly imprisoned as Paul Whelan. Where is our next Ronald Reagan? Can We The People be rescued?
Not by one person in the WH. That is a pipe dream of too many people. The corruption is embedded too deeply throughout both the political and bureaucratic machines.
God is in control. By giving the left the White House and parliamentary seats they need to pull everyone out of the shadows and put them in the light. They are all exposed and can’t hide again. The only question is can these people be prosecuted. Does a new kind of treason charge need to be drafted? What new accountability laws are needed? You have a congressional majority now the key question is who will run it? Will they compromise or fight? Can they draught laws that Biden or President Harris can’t veto?
I accidentally smuggled a few nugs of weed when I traveled from Albania to Istanbul, Turkey. I wasn’t caught, but if I was, I wonder how many terrorists Biden would have traded for me?
