I’ve got a bit of a question I wish to post, and perhaps Bill might be able to chime in. I’m currently on a cruise coming back from Antarctica. We have a large crew here willing to talk about each of their countries and make discussion with all of us. Until today, which was a very very odd interview.
I met a crew member today whose tag said she was from Russia. I am VERY interested in first-news perspectives from people in such countries and often stop them and ask them their views and perspectives.
This was the very first crew member who immediately gave a very frightened response and practically ran away. Though all the other crew members denied it, she claimed that it was a policy that they can’t talk politics. I even offered to provide her with my contact information to speak after the cruise, and she literally ran off quite evidently scared.
My only thought on that issue is that perhaps her ‘agency’ in Russia might be putting the thumbscrews to her, and wanted someones’ here third-party perspective on the issue.
