Another genius no longer with us

I recently stumbled across this video of Michael Crichton and a panel of experts discussing this, that, and that other thing over there in the corner. It is a little dated now (Crichton died November 4th, 2008), but if you have a couple hours to spare of an evening it might be enjoyable to watch a real scientist utterly eviscerate superstitious thinking.

And if you don’t know who Michael Crichton is, you will recognize any of a large number of things he’s written, among them Jurassic Park, Twister, and The 13th Warrior. Oh, and Andromeda Strain.

Enjoy:

Thanks! I thought it was. It is good to remember that we have had (and still have) a few good scientists left. It’s the media that makes every step hard against the wind.

Steve, I thought this video was so relevant, I shared it to FaceBook. Most people have no clue how they are being played, and for what reasons.
H.L. Mencken probably would not be a modern conservative, but he did hit the nail on the head at least once… “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.”
