It’s kind of interesting that many of the negative comments here are centered around the seriousness of the message and why Sound of Freedom should not be lumped in with other entertaining movies as it’s way too important. Rather than rushing to judge someone who describes it in a different way, we can consider the most effective ways to draw people into the theaters to see it. I don’t know why it can’t be marketed as both entertaining and important. Anyone who might initially be turned off from seeing a ‘preachy’ movie could instead be drawn to see it if they see it as an adventure story where lives are saved. For sure the Left is putting out false rumors about the content being ‘dangerous’. Letting people know it’s not only about heroes saving children but also a really good story would be a great way to overcome that. Movies are often marketed in several different ways, with some trailers edited toward romance or adventure and others edited toward humor or action. The point is to get both the message and issue out there into the public airwaves to call attention to the plight of these children.

The successful formula for the “arc of a storyline” be it in movies, plays novels or even heroic poetry, has been essentially fixed since long before Hollywood, long before Shakespeare and probably even long before Greek Tragedies. So, to say that you would always go to see movies that follow this formula is sort of redundant as you already have, for your entire life really!

Gotta say Scott, totally disagree with you aboutSound of Freedom. As a man of God,i don’t think you’re getting the idea. This is a true story of good triumphing over evil. It is presented in an adventure scenario, but it is much deeper. You should know or see the reality involved. I’m highly disappointed. In all disclosure i did help fund this raid to rescue these kids.

Thank you for funding the effort to free kids! That’s wonderful.
I didn’t hear anything from Scott that would disagree with the fact that this movie is good triumphing over evil. He actually recommended the movie and if people go see it the message will be promoted. Some may go see it who would normally never watch a Christian oriented film, and that’s good, too.

I normally don’t post my thoughts, but before I do I must confess that I haven’t seen either movie. I have, however, watched an interview (twice) with Jim Caviezel and Tim Ballard (the person he portrays in the film) that I would *highly* recommend (https://www.theepochtimes.com/jim-caviezel-and-tim-ballard-hard-truths-of-the-global-child-sex-trade-and-the-spiritual-battle-for-our-children_5364424.html). If I weren’t in the process of packing up my household to move from the dark blue land of entrapment (New Mexico) to the state who’s motto is “the people rule” (Arkansas), I would already have gone to see The Sound of Freedom. For the same reasons that Dave mentioned below, I won’t go to Dial of Destiny (or any other Disney movie).

Having said all of that, there is a huge difference between the two films. They can’t be compared as “apples to apples” based purely on their entertainment value. One was produced purely as entertainment and, as Bill mentioned, as a cash grab. The other was produced primarily to inform, not to entertain. Angel Studios has done a remarkable job with recognizing that our addiction to entertainment keeps us woefully uninformed of what’s going on in the world, so rather than producing documentaries that most people wouldn’t watch, they present important cultural and political issues in entertainment form. Scott recognizes that reality when he mentions that he was glad they didn’t produce a documentary, but based on the comment he made to his wife when she said they were going to the movie, my guess is he wouldn’t have watched it if they had. Telling a true and harrowingly tragic story in an entertaining way, of necessity, requires some artistic license, but if you listen to the interview I noted above, you’ll find that they’ve made every effort to portray the characters and incidents as accurately as possible. As an example, Tim Ballard talks about the pendant with 1 Timothy 6:11 on it that becomes a thread in the film. He even asked the producers to leave that out of the movie, not because it wasn’t true, but because it was. Hs concern was that most people would assume that as being poetic license, but in his words he said it was “very real, very meaningful, and a huge part of my decision.”

Nobody is surprised at the box office returns from Dial of Destiny – produced with a multi-million dollar budget. The big surprise here is a box office “hit” financed by industry outsiders who want alternatives to the woke Hollywood agenda. I have no objection to a plea at the end for grass roots financing of these kinds of films if it will awaken our otherwise ignorant culture to issues they’d rather avoid.

Scott essentially asks “why am I entertained by the same plot line over and over again?” Joseph Campbell answered this with his classic “Hero With a Thousand Faces.”

We saw the Indiana Jones movie just because we had seen the previous 4 and was hoping for a better ending to the franchise than the 4th one was. We enjoyed the movie and was delighted that it was not filled with woke nonsense. Best of all, it was an excellent ending for the Indiana Jones saga.
We have not seen the Sound of Freedom and will probably wait for it to come out on TV. We rarely go to the one theater in town because by the time we hear about a movie it has already come and gone. It was just a fluke that we found out the Indiana Jones movie was playing.

I was pleasantly surprised that Indiana Jones was showed no signs of woke. I enjoyed it. Funny, but I can’t remember Indie V at all. I either did not see it, or it was totally forgettable.

This one, Dial of Destiny, was V. The previous Indy movie was IV, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. None of the movies have been titled in a serial manner, some of us just refer to them in the order they were released. Which leads to some confusion now and then.

I commented below that AMC theatres was making it difficult for people to watch sound of freedom. Angel studios has now come out and said this:

“We understand there are rumors — predominantly in social media — that AMC theaters have made it difficult for fans to see Sound of Freedom in local AMC theaters, and we want to make it clear these rumors are not accurate,” Brandon Purdie, Head of Angel Theatrical Distribution, said in the announcement.
“AMC has been an outstanding partner for Angel Studios,” Purdie continued. “[I]n fact, as a result of the movie’s performance and consumer demand, AMC has agreed to add additional screens for SOUND OF FREEDOM this weekend.”

We saw it in an AMC theater with no issues. 7:00 Thursday evening with about 2/3 full audience. Interesting side note: most of the people around us exiting theater were discussing that Trump had Tim Ballard in the WH working on organizing a national effort against child sex trafficking and Biden shut it all down within hours of taking office. I didn’t realize how much this was common knowledge. We live in northern north Florida, so you know how the area votes.

Thanks for posting that. We on the Right are as susceptible to rumors and gossip as anyone else. It’s good to tamp that nonsense down wherever you can.

Bill, Scott and Steve. I truly, truly believe it would be a worthwhile episode exposing and discussing the full scale, full court press suppression and censorship of this issue by the democrat/media/big tech cabal, not only in America, but worldwide.
This is an issue worthy of a trans mutilation type movement being waged by Matt Walsh and Daily Wire.
Hey folks, jump in and give the guys your thoughts.

I would not call Sound of Freedom entertainment. It is a wake-up call to one more aspect of evil that is going on in the world today. Jim Caveziel did not make the movie for entertainment value. He and his wife have adopted two children who were saved from trafficking. Tim Ballard and his wife adopted two children whom Tim personally saved from trafficking. It seems to be practically a duty for us to see this if we are people who care about children and want to see bad people in prison.

I was already aware of this sort of thing. And worse if you can imagine worse. Child soldiers in Africa would be an example. Here’s a hint, they don’t only use them for cannon fodder.

I’ll watch the movie with my family who is perhaps not so aware. It’s not that I want them to be more aware though I certainly do. It’s that I want them to see that the things I’ve been telling them in this regard are true and worthy of attention.

Because quite frankly, until you understand that this sort of thing is actually, really happening it’s awfully easy to just blow it off as a wild story. Because it’s so horrible it’s also very hard to believe.

My understanding is there are also videos of children being raped and then murdered. I understand they bring big money.

I’m rather shocked here on the shallow take on Sound of Freedom, comparing it to an entertaining movie rather than the take I have after seeing it. My take is why the F**K the left is fighting so hard to keep this movie from the mass public and why they are flat out lying about both the movie, but also the subject of the movie. Why do they want to keep this crime against humanity and ESPECIALLY CHILDREN secret? Can there be more than one answer to that question? Can there be a larger issue in the upcoming presidential election season? Can there be a more powerful and RIGHTEOUS issue for the republicans to take up?? The children of the world are being stolen and sold into sex slavery and the entirety of the democrat power structure is doing EVERYTHING they can to hide it from the public.
Or is it……..there are also top-level republicans partaking in this most vile mental illness?

I agree wholeheartedly, Kurt. I’ve also read/heard today that some theaters are turning off the air-conditioning and leaving the lights on during the movie. I believe AMC theaters was mentioned as one of those doing so. I saw a video of a couple who bought their tickets online and they noticed that most of the seats were indicated as being sold, yet when they got into the theater, only the two of them and a small number of other people were there. Someone is obviously trying to minimize the number of people going to see this film.
Edit: Apparently, what I posted here is incorrect and is just a RUMOR. See my new comment above for more information.

I believe that Sound of Freedom was actually completed three years ago, but they had trouble getting it into the theaters. I wonder why? Could it possibly be that Hollywood is teeming with pedophiles?

If I am not mistaken, in the post movie message that Scott seemed turned off about, Jim Caviezel said the movie was completed 5 years ago and it has taken this long to bring it to the public.

all you need to see is the story of creepy Joe showering with his own daughter and all the video and photos of him touching, sniffing, and kissing on little girls during the last 40 years to know where his heart is and all those people in his family who put up with this pedo behavior.

Good, bad or indifferent, until Disney as a corporate entity, consistently proves they are not in business to destroy American culture as we know it, I won’t intentionally reward them with my dollars.

While I was watching Sound of Freedom, I remember saying to myself, “Wow! This is just like the way they used to make movies back in the good ol’ days.” It was amazing!
With regard to Scott’s mention of the “Paying it Forward” pitch at the end, that is an important component of Angel Studio’s economic model and is how they were able to finance The Chosen.

Well, aren’t we fancy today?
It seems that someone got creative with Rumble’s “restricted/private” vdeo setting. I wonder if we’re gonna be forced to always view videos through this site in the future. Considering its slowness, that would be unfortunate — especially for those of us who use the Rumble app on a smart phone instead of a mobile browser.

I clicked on the Rumble link at the bottom of the video window and it’s working fine now. You might have caught this during the upload and indexing process right after the guys posted it. I was wondering if they were going to post a video today and when it wasn’t there this morning I gave up on it until early this evening. By that time it was working OK on this site and on Rumble and YouTube.

I didn’t know they posted this today until it popped up on my YouTube feed so probably by then all the kinks were straightened out.

EDIT: After posting this reply I see that all the timestamps on the comments are in PDT. Mine says “2:15 PM” and my reply was at 5:15 PM local to me.

I see that all is well withthe world now. I am surprised that I was early enough to attempt to view this while it was in the “limbo” stage of publication. I’m usually late to the parties.
Regardless … thanks.

You’re most welcome. It seems that the early bird might get the worm but not the video 🙂
