Jack White of the rock duo ‘The White Stripes’, and Trent Reznor of ‘Nine Inch Nails’, are leaving Twitter, kicking and screaming, because Elon Musk invited Donald Trump to return to the platform — although Trump says he sees no reason to return.

To these so-called celebrities whose names I did not know, I have but one thing to say.
Everyone brings joy to Twitter. Some by joining, some by leaving.
What age child deals with things by putting their fingers in their ears and screaming “nah nah nah nah nah” so they don’t have to hear what they don’t want to hear? I forget. Age nine?
I agree that they don’t want to hear things that ring true yet are against their narrative.
First of all what I have to say to this kind of person is …
“Bye, see ya, wouldn’t wanna be ya. Don’t let the hatch impact your posterior as you transition to the exterior.”
This kind of thing is nothing more than empty virtue signalling. It’s “Look at what an amazing, wonderful, stupendous, fantastic person I am for making an empty, useless, meaningless gesture that I have no intention of following up on anyway.”
In reality this is nothing more than a solid indicator of what a vacuous drone this kind of person is.
The real problem is that we are giving these idiots much more attention than they deserve. I don’t give a flayed rat’s posterior about what any performer thinks. If I listen to their music or watch their acting I do so because it entertains me. An entertainer is NEVER a person whom I look to for anything BUT entertainment. I already know about their shallow, spoiled, ungrateful, hedonistic lifestyle and do not admire them for anything but their art.
For instance, Tim Allen is purportedly a nominal conservative. I really like his work on screen because he usually does a superb job of acting and whether it’s because he’s type cast or it’s actually his choice the movies and TV shows he does are generally pretty wholesome and fun. I’m a Tim Allen fan, no doubt about it. But I don’t care what his personal opinions are and would never change my own mind just because he said or did something. He’s an actor, an actor that I like, but he’s not a role model or anything approaching a spiritual or political advisor.
The point I’m making is that if I don’t give a flying fig what Tim Allen personally thinks about anything then I sure as heck don’t care what some Leftist musician or actor thinks about anything. He or she is not more rich and famous than I am because of his amazing political philosophy. He or she got paid a lot of money because they provided a product that people will pay that kind of money for. Opinion is not that product.
Contrast that to this website where I DO pay people for their opinions. Bill, Scott, Steve and Zo are worth every penny opinion-wise and they are nothing like the people who claim to bail on their Twitter followers because they’re having a childish hissy-fit.
While I agree with not caring about what Tim Allen has to say simply because he’s a celebrity, I do respect that fact that he is willing to express his views while working in an industry notorious for its bigotry against Normals.
Yeah, me too … I respect his guts and integrity but I don’t really care what his opinions are. I don’t look to him for opinions and I’m sure his opinion and mine diverge at many points. Not caring about someone’s opinion doesn’t mean I can’t admire them for some other quality but as usual …
I think we’re talking about the same sort of thing looked at from two different angles. We’re on the same page but reading different paragraphs. Merry Christmas, BTW, to you and all the Bob-o-links 🙂 (It’s Advent so I get to start saying Merry Christmas now. You’re the first Bill Whittle-ite it has been my pleasure to convey holiday cheer to.)
Aw, shuck – I’m honored! Many thanks and Merry Christmas back at you & the ACTS family!
