On the first point, and very weirdly, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ok with trans, unlike other Islamic countries. In fact they carry out thousands of gender reasignment operations every year.
Most of these are not voluntary, however. They are happier with trans than gay and assume a man who is attracted to men must “really” be a woman, so many gay Iranians get the “choice” of being made into a simulacrum of a woman or being hanged.
