I can assure you all that I personally know at least half a dozen gay men who will be deeply annoyed and embarrassed by this ad. As a pooftah myself I’m heartily sick of the use of sexuality as a weapon in the culture wars. Father Christmas, Santa Claus, Saint Nick, or however you know him, is the personification of Christmas, the most child centred of festivals. As such he is where folklore meets religion, to me sexualising such a figure is deeply, well, icky.
The idea that it is the job of any public or private body to try to frame the public’s attitudes and opinions is just plain wrong. The idea that a deeply liberal society like Norway’s needs any socially aware advertising to push acceptance of homosexuality is laughable.
ACTS (TM) is quite right, don’t let this odious and ludicrous rubbish get under your skin, which is what it is designed to do. This is clearly intended to provoke people into overreaction.
I can’t help but notice Christmas, and Father Christmas especially, seem to be being targeted this year. If you feel the need of an outrage attack look up the HBO Max trailer for Sarah Silverman and Seth Rogan’s egregiously Woke Santa Inc. on YT.
Caution, do not watch the trailer if your suffer from a heart condition. I take no responsibility for any strokes or seizures arising from this.
I’ve only seen the trailer, but again, it’s clear the intention is to offend. In the YT comments section the fact that both Silverman and Rogan are Jewish has led some folk to post comments even more loathesome than the film they are criticising. So, now any and all criticism of the movie can and will be dismissed as anti-Semitism, just as criticism of the Norwegian ad will be dismissed as homophobia, even when it comes from gay men like me.
So sick of this stuff – I don’t care who you are, what your sexual preferences are, just keep them private! But of course, it isn’t about that is it.
Don’t let them get to you. We all know Santa Clause is Kurt Russel and Mrs. Clause is Goldie Hawn. Santa is heteronormative. It’s right there in the two “Christmas Chronicles” movies.
Also, being an ethnic Dane I can assure you completely that Norwegians and Swedes are Lesser Scandinavians barely worth the title.
Norwegians eat this stuff called “lutefisk”. (Pronounced “Loo da fisk”) It’s fish rotted in lye. Anyone short of lethal starvation who would eat something like that is not to be heeded.
(This is a Norse thing, I love taking the mickey out of Lesser Scandinavians.)

Generally, this kind of cultural indoctrination appeals to young, inexperienced, barely educated regardless of the letters on their diploma people who delight in scandalizing the oldsters, or at least it was that way for me.
In all my glorious ignorance/stupidity I once believed abortion was a good thing if it protected the child from the harm of being born to a woman who was so careless, immoral and degraded that abortion was an option she would consider. I thought no-fault divorce was a good thing. I was a libber. It only took getting married to a good man and raising a child to straighten me out.
My fervent hope is that young people who are being indoctrinated by hard-core leftist theology in our schools and broader culture will somehow grow out of it, but that hope honestly just sounds like wishful thinking on my part. So, I will cling to the fact that human society is on a pendulum that has been stuck for awhile on the left side of the swing and eventually, maybe even now, is in the beginnings of its swing back to the right.
Back toward the end of the year 2000 Netherlands’ parliament voted to make homosexual marriage LEGAL. Here in the USA some folks declared it would never happen here.
In 2008 in California Prop 8 passed. Here was the vote:
Yes 7,001,084 52.24%
No 6,401,482 47.76%
Prop 8 defined Marriage as between One Man and One Woman. Because polls showed that the homosexuals would win the vote, they went to the courts to have the vote overturned. I suspect the reason the polling was so skewed is because folks answered one way when asked, but voted another in the privacy of the voting booth. Ninth Circuit upheld the ruling to overturn Prop 8 on February 7, 2012.
Then on June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court miraculously found in the Fourteenth Amendment that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples.
About 7 years between Prop 8 and Obergefell v. Hodges. And 15 years from the Netherlands’ law and our Supreme Court ruling.
Seems like an accelerated timeline to me. LeftistLegacyMedia played its part well. So did Hollywood.
And here we are.
Next item on the list is to reclassify Pedophilia as merely another Sexual Orientation/Sexual Identity.
