Excelleent report, Bill. This makes me happy too. Maybe there is yet hope for this nation. We, the people, must act.
It was a brave kid that reported it to his parents and a very smart parent that thought of calling project veritas. The most interesting question is where does project veritas find people that can pass themselves off as so woke or so Marxist that the real woke fanatics and the Marxist infiltrators open up to them.
I’m told that some of project veritas recruits are military veterans and they spend months getting into these leftist networks with very heavy disguises and master crafted ‘legends’. A legend in espionage is the layer and layer of records, contacts and reputation preplaced so that if someone decides to check an ID it gets confirmed.
It is time to put cameras in the classrooms. Policeman wear them. Courts have them. It is obvious that we cannot trust many of these “teachers” to actually educate rather than indoctrinate. Look at how many parents became aware of the poor quality of lessons and personnel in their schools due to the pandemic and Zoom learning. Since many schools are going back to in-person schooling, we need to be able to see what is going on and actually being taught to the children.
Bill says that these parents didn’t know what was being done to their kids. I think he’s right about that, but my question is why didn’t they know?
When I was young we lived on a farm and I rode a bus to school and back each day. My Dad was gone quite often for work, I’m not faulting him for that because my Mom and my Grandparents filled that gap just fine and while we were quite poor by modern standards my Dad kept us well fed, properly clothed and housed in a place we called “home” for all the right reasons.
The point is that there was always an adult waiting for my sister and I to get home from school. The first question as we came in the door was “So, what did you learn today?” This wasn’t a rhetorical question, nor was it polite conversation to make with us because we were school kids. The question was in ernest and on the ride home on the bus, between goofing around with the other kids and listening to the top 100 on the bus radio (to this day hearing “All Right Now” by Free brings back memories of bus rides …) there was usually some sort of answer to that question percolating in the back of my mind. Because I knew it was going to be asked.
I learned from kindergarten onward that I’d better have a better answer than “Oh, nothing much.” I was being sent to school to learn and by God I’d better be learning something every day or I would answer for not being able to answer that question.
My experience was the norm back then. Most of the other kids faced the same question when they got off the bus, or for the “town kids” who we so envied when they walked home and came in the door. I cannot recall a single time there were Parent – Teacher conferences that an adult in my home didn’t attend them …
When did parents stop asking their kids this question? Why did they stop asking this question? Is it because they no longer considered it important? Is it because sometime between then and now we transitioned to two earner households? Is it because parents stopped caring what their kids were learning? Is it because single parent households became much more prevalent? Is it because parents simply got lazy and gave up the rearing of their children to the State?
Just what is it that caused parents to stop asking their kids “What did you learn today?”
This, 1000xs this. And beyond, my parents were involved in our schooling at the school. They never missed a meet the teacher or back to school night or a PTA meeting. They knew the teachers, even when that meant upwards of 12 to 15 different teachers for the three of us kids at three different schools.
My wife and I both went to all meet the teacher nights because we wanted to know who was teaching our kids. I even went the year when one of her teachers in HS was a young woman who had lived across the street and had actually babysat my daughter when the now teacher was in HS.
I wanted to see the classroom. I was even jerk enough that when we were in the school for another reason, I had my daughter take me to her classrooms so I could see what was going on when it was unexpected.
Yes, they care now that they know, but the fact that they didn’t know is DEEPLY disturbing.
And, just to be clear, Mrs Ron was a teacher for 30+ years. She knew all the right questions and could really tell which teachers were really interested in teaching and getting kids to think and which ones were just cruising along and which ones were down right dangerous to thinking.
This is just example what parents have to do all across the country. Stand up and take back our schools. Start with the school boards, elect average American parents to the school board not these educators. And maybe some parents should start visiting the classrooms more often. We might clean this out then.
Someone else must have said: School boards are too important to be left to educators. Businessmen, farmers, welders need to be on those boards. Dentists, bank tellers. Not teachers. Not school administrators.
When ALL of these fascist and communist bureaucrats and politicians are removed from their positions (PERMANENTLY) then we can celebrate. Until then, the war must continue.
