Democrats introduce a bill, in both houses of Congress, that would let shooting victims sue gun makers, dealers.
This bill was introduced in both the Senate and the House. I have been in touch with both my Senators, and my Representative to let them know that I do not think the bill goes far enough! I have encouraged them to introduce an amendment to the the bill to cover ANY product, device, tool, or machine used to commit violence, to ensure that any victim can sue the maker and/or seller of the product, device, tool, or machine used in ANY act of violence. If you are attacked with a hammer or screwdriver, you could sue the the tool maker. If you are stabbed with a knife, you could then sue the cultlery maker. If you are victim of a drunk driving accident, the car maker is subject to suit.
Please call your legislative delegation and let them know you would support this very important and necessary amendment to this bill, should they introduce it.

Love it!
You’re idea still doesn’t go far enough. Any device that was used to commit, plan or organize a criminal activity or promote or distribute the criminal act or it’s consequences (please consult a Congress-weasle for proper wording)should open up the device or tool manufacturer to civil (criminal?) liability.
I’m not sure we need to tar weasels (you transposed the e and the l) as they do serve a necessary role curbing certain populations of other animals with the bad actions of congress-critters.
I think we’re also better off leaving it at civil liability as tort reform, we have enough hardened criminals in prisons as it is and we don’t want them getting any new ideas.
