California AB-5, a law that could end freelance contracting — from writers, to rock bands, to computer coders, to Santa Clause actors — is soon coming to our nation’s capitol. Will Progressive concern for the little guy kill the little guy’s income? Frontline workers say it’s worse than anyone believes.

What are you going to do about it? Bill, you have the right idea – ignore the “law.” Massive civil disobedience is the answer to this.
I did one of those political quizzes about a month ago that asked if I was willing to hurt myself in order to hurt someone else worse. I’d never thought of that as a political trait before. Your line about California cutting off its nose to spite its face dredged that memory up. Now I’m piecing together how the Marxists hate the wealthy so much that they’re willing to destroy their own wealth in order to hurt those more wealthy even worse. Or maybe they’re so offended by the wealthy that they’re willing to destroy the idea of wealth itself.
That idea still needs some work, but I think it’s got some merit. I’ve heard Marxism described as the politics of jealousy or covetousness, but perhaps it also requires these kinds of pathological methods. If you take the current politics of victimhood and instead think of it as martyrdom, I think it sort of fits. The white leftist who hates all white people is hurting themselves, but hurting the less virtuous whites even more. Same for male feminists.
@Iowahawkblog had the best tweet on male feminists a few years ago, something along the lines of:
I’m a Male Feminist is Manglish for “This is my last shot at getting laid”
