In these troubling and testing times I thought I would share with you something special. A service at the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace. The Palace is closed to visitors and Chapel is not open to its usual congregation, and so the Chaplain, the Revd. Canon Anthony Howe, decided to record this morning’s Sung Eucharist and post it online.
The Chapel Royal is part of Her Majesty’s ecclesiastical household and a fully working church within Hampton Court Palace. I have attended many services as well as weddings, christenings and funerals there. I have worked closely with Fr. Anthony and the Clerk of the Chapel, James Harris, whom I count as good friends.
The video is about 50 minutes and is by no means professional, but I think they did a great job under the circumstances. The Chapel Royal is an Anglican church and is exceedingly ‘High Church’. The style of worship is much more elaborate than many will be used to, and I’m sure will not be to everyone’s taste, but I hope my friends on BW will appreciate it, if only for the beauty of the music, sung my the Gentlemen of the Chapel directed by Carl Jackson MVO. enough waffle from me, here it is, I hope you find it of interest and comfort.
