Right Angle: Backstage (03-31-2020)

The men of Right Angle find themselves shut-in with nothing but computers, cameras, mics and each other to…wait a minute…that’s the way it’s been for more than a decade. At times like these, we all need some laughter. Welcome, especially, to our new Members, and thank you for your support. Make sure to introduce yourself here in the comments and/or on our Member-written blog.

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth! The thought of doing something because it’s the right thing to do is beyond some people.

https://youtu.be/CgzxNMIbZKM More comments on evicting tenants, particularly with New York’s commercial property market. One requirement I’ve always had when looking for a house is that it doesn’t have an HOA…

As for the ventilators, masks, and such, they should be buying a new set every 2-3 years for the stockpile, but instead of throwing the old ones away they should either donate or sell them to hospitals (half price? wholesale?), clinics, send them to the VA, etc. Similar to how you buy things for your pantry that you’re actually going to use, and just use the oldest items in your pantry to eat from.

A couple men were talking over the internet.
The first said “Let’s keep looking forward. Let’s just go ahead and pretend there’s going to be a future for the human race. A few more moments of hope while we sit this one out in our underground converted missile silos.”
The second perked up, “Converted? I want a real one”
The first added, “Let’s just say that when I bought it, it WAS deactivated.”

Steve, I am TOTALLY with you on your love of big cats, especially tigers! Magnificent isn’t a powerful enough word to describe them. I do love your use of “elegant!”

An item on my bucket list is to visit Tiger Island in Australia where they walk around the park with tigers and you can get up close. I would probably one of those idiots that they’d have to hold back from hugging and kissing them!!

well even with the temporary rent laws to protect tenants for 3 months here in California aren’t going to help me. I had a roommate just leave months earlier than he had said he was going to, and now it’s proving impossible to find anyone to move in. So I’m unable to pay anything near the full rent for as long as this lasts and will not have the back rent to pay when this temporary period is over.

Renewed automatically. You three have been my go-to trio for the latest snafus, political insight, and intelligent comments since the days of Trifecta. Can’t wait for another of Steve’s Lightening Rounds. Keep healthy and keep posting.

Do any of the anti religion zealots really think that any of the 1st responders at Oklahoma City, WTC, Hurricanes, Tornado’s, whatever really care if the get a cup of coffee or a paper plate with John 3:16 on it? I may be completely wrong, but I am thinking the people are just happy to get some food or drink or service. I know I would be. Wonder if these people would have the same reaction if some Muslim organization like CARE was handing out cups of coffee with a Muslim symbol or had woman tending to sick or wounded with Hijabs on saying Muslim prayers or something.

This society is so badly self absorbed and broken we are quickly cutting off our nose to spite our face with this behavior. Absolutely ridiculous.

Not so much converted as restored missile silo. Though I doubt the original configuration had a wood panel and marble countertop chef grade kitchen.

If Steve’s able to market that snack too much and drink too much weight loss plan, youre gonna loose him Bill. He’ll be out w/ all his new friends (h/t Ron White).

When Steve mentioned “totally your masseuse” to Bill, he actually BLUSHED!! That is a first for me in 11 years of watching you three on this and the previous shows. Bill, marriage has been so very good for you. It truly makes me happy to see you with such joy in your heart. Blessings on you and your beautiful bride always.

Yes! I noticed that, too! I feel just as you do Cathy! It is the best to have Bill a happy man!

The ‘what if it started now’ discussion recalls the Sullenberger movie in which the simulator pilots were all able to land safely because they knew what was coming as opposed to the actual pilots who had to experience, assess and troubleshoot the problem before deciding on a course of action.

Yes, they might push their nefarious ‘Love thy neighbor ‘ agenda. The whole point of the Samaritan story is a man helping someone of a different group.

My dad ended his career as a simulator trainer. Re seemed to take mischievous glee in throwing any weird ass thing he could think of at the trainees.

If someone has not read the Bible story, they have no idea of the point of the story. I think a pretty safe assumption to make.

What do you think about this from Project Veritas?

It seems true that this is a particularly virulent virus. It also seems true that it is no where near bad as the Spanish flu of 1918. The latest projection of deaths (in the US) I heard is between 100,000 and 240,000. That’s a far cry from the 625,000 dead in 1918 (and at a time when the population of the country was far less,) but it’s also much greater than the 25,000 to 65,000 deaths per year from the seasonal flu, which my doctor friend tells me is considered normal. The china flu season hasn’t run its course yet, so we don’t have actual figures, but considering that NY’s capacity to treat those critical cases has been overrun, I can’t believe it’s a government plot to usher in the New World Order – not that there aren’t those who would like to not let this crisis go to waste.

RI Governor Gina Raimondo, is not someone I ever voted for, nor, being a pro-abortion, anti-gun democrat would I ever vote for her. That being said, I must give credit where credit is due; she has been doing an excellent job managing the situation so far. Also so far, gun stores are not being closed for the duration, as an unessential business.

Operation Christmas child is a great ministry! Our little church puts up between 100 and 150 boxes a year.

I saw on the news (yeah, this hunkering down has compelled me to actually watch some network “news.”) a story about the Central Park field hospital. They didn’t trash Samaritan’s Purse, but neither did they identify it as Christian. Let’s not give credit where credit is due.

You are correct, this was my first Backstage. As disappointments go, it was excellent!

I have the good fortune of having a job which is able to be done from home, and was already lobbying to do so full-time before the pandemic made it a requirement. Part of the reason I was pushing for it, is that I’m moving from SoCal to NE Texas, and didn’t want to lose this job. I could manage for a couple of years without having to find new work if necessary, but I like my work, and am fortunately the only one doing some critical tasks for my company.

There is zero chance that I will watch The Tiger King. It’s just not going to happen.

Nobody reacted to Steve’s disdain for the Metric System? It was so well timed.

“We hadn’t noticed” ~ Smooth, Bill.

Steve, in response to your query about what we want to see done differently post-pandemic, I think that the opportunity for President Trump to take a flame-thrower to massive amounts of useless regulation is unprecedented and very encouraging. I think that you guys, and every other conservative blogger, should be pushing that with maximum impetus.

“Giving yourself wholly to your masseuse”. What? No, never mind, I do NOT want to know.

On the HOA story, my response to that on Twitter was; “Looks like a slam-dunk civil suit to me”.

The yellow-flag analogy is perfect.

Thanks, guys.

You’ll always remember where you were when you saw your first Backstage.

Scott’s last topic and Bill’s earlier (or maybe it was the BW NOW) made me think the “close them down and confiscate their stuff” people not wanting religious based organizations providing medical care types are similar to the religious people that will pray for healing over using medicine. Of course, that would probably make the secularists burst into flames thinking they were anything like deeply believing faith types.

The pandemic and more importantly the chosen response which has crippled the entire world economy is an extremely dangerous time strategically. It is so dangerous that the entire concepts of money and banking will come under attack. How we respond and the direction we choose is the important question.
