COVID-19 new cases vs deaths comparison as of July 1

I’ve been tracking the daily changes to the numbers of new cases of COVID-19, and the number of deaths reported. This data is for the US and was gathered from the Johns Hopkin’s COVID website. I’m using a 5 day rolling average to filter the noise of the daily changes. In the past couple weeks, the number of new cases has really taken off while the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has continued to trend downward. There was an adjustment made by the State of New Jersey that made one day jump to the number of deaths. Since I am averaging the data over 5 days the one day jump is the bump over a few days at the end of the graph.
