Looking Back as We Near the 1 Year Anniversary of 15 Days to Flatten the Curve.

A year ago today I was in the middle of my last semester in college looking forward to a trip to go watch XFL football and baseball spring training down in Tampa Bay. I was on the brink of the next phase of my life and looking forward to it tremendously. I knew about coronavirus and how it was working its way across China and Italy but I had done my own research on the topic and wasn’t worried about it since it was (and still is by the way) about as deadly as a particularly bad flu season. This week was the beginning of what ended up being a very turbulent few months of my life, starting with all the games I planned on attending getting cancelled while I was driving to Florida.

A week or so after I returned to my college on campus apartment from vacation I was informed by the school that I was being kicked out of my home due to the growing threat of the virus. I spent several weeks living with my brother before I eventually relocated back down to Florida to live at my parents vacation home for the remainder of my senior year. I spent the day of my graduation on the beach with several friends of mine drinking the day away.

I write all this not to brag but to count the massive blessings that I have received in the past year. I graduated college, I moved into a full time position at the company where I had been interning for the past year, I moved into my own apartment, and became financially independent for the first time in my life. I know millions of Americans have had their lives ripped apart this past year and in many ways mine was as well. I say all this to remind myself that the Lord works in mysterious ways and He will often turn what was done for evil into something good. That is what happened to me and I pray that is what will happen for each and everyone of us, as well as our country, as we try to piece this thing called the USA back together after this lost year.

This is my first post on here so hopefully I didn’t ramble on too much.

And you’ll get your chance to go to an XFL game. Whenever things open back up you know that Vince McMahon (or someone like him) is licking his chops at the prospect of launching XFL 3.0 – “The F is for Football!”
