In 2015, Mark Zuckerberg asked Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, in Mandarin, if he would give an honorary name to his first-born child, growing in the womb of his Chinese-America wife. Bill Whittle connects the threads between Winston Churchill, the Zuckerberg baby naming, and the Wuhan Virology Lab. Will we learn the lessons of history…in time?

“That actually happened.”
Are we connecting the dots yet, people?
Howdy Bill …. another brilliant Firewall that goes far to show the prescience of George S. and the frightening historical parallels that you so aptly describe. I would have to disagree with you on one key point however, and that is that I do believe we are already deep into the Appeasement Phase with China today. Just look at their invasion of our culture, industry and especially our institutions, and how we seem to be willingly accepting it. The ongoing theft of our intellectual property and our ongoing acceptance of that as well. Then simply look to Hong Kong and tell me that we are not in acceptance mode on that marked violation of previously agreed upon occupation and operations. Next item on the agenda in nothing less than Taiwan, and that I am sure will be the modern equivalent of Poland ….. and what will our response be there with our current hard Left loving, Communist appeasing and praising Govt. that is deeply indebted to the CCP for their current control of our levers of power!?!?
To quote Bill Whittle, (or paraphrase anyway):
Strong men make good times.
Good times make weak men.
Weak men make bad times.
Bad times make strong men.
And the cycle continues.
Bill, back in 1962 I went thru all the tests both physical and mental for acceptance for the Navy’s NROTC program. The last thing on their agenda was an interview with a ranking Naval officer. He drilled me on Naval tactics and my understanding of priorities. The one question that came to be my demise was “What is more important, the completion of the mission or the safety of the ship and crew?” I asked if this was in peacetime or wartime and he said it didn’t matter. My answer was wrong because my answer was the safety of the ship and crew. I countered with my training would teach me that, but it didn’t satisfy him enough to put his stamp of approval on my appointment to the program. This is why I never became a Naval Officer.
I was in a similar interview for AFROTC, and was asked the same question. I was just lucky enough to say “the mission, sir.” not because I was any smarter than anyone else, but my dad was a WW2 vet and I just guessed that’s what he would have said.
My response to that Captain was, “Well, I hope the training will teach me that.” And his response was “Not good enough.” My dad was a Commander at the time and I knew the answer, but I just blew it.
Bill; you may have studied history but you didn’t study it enough. Churchill came to power on the 10th of May 1940. The day that Germany opened their campaign in the west, not on the day that France surrendered.
Also Chamberlin had to be persuaded to declare war on Germany even after Poland was invaded. His government basically threated to resign en mass if he didn’t back Poland after they had joined an alliance with them.
Towards the end of this video, Bill talks about how, if/when we prevail in the upcoming conflict, we would enjoy a period of peace and prosperity until, a couple generations down the line, people forget what we fought to conserve.
It reminded me of a quote. Unfortunately, I can find no reliable attribution, but it goes like this:
Hard times make strong men,
Strong men make prosperous times.
Prosperous times make weak men.
Weak men make hard times.
I believe we are in the 4th phase of the cycle right now.
That’s a great quote.
I recall something like “Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations,” which explains how strong diligence (hard work) leads to wasteful prosperity which in turn requires strong diligence.
There’s a fellow in the YouTube who illustrated an 80-year cycle, similar to your concept. He agrees with you–we’re on the downslope.
Sorry I did not see your quote before I posted my flawed recollection.
Thanks, Bill, for another inspiring talk!
It’s two weeks in a row that Moving Back to America’s Week in Review hasn’t aired on Rumble or this website. Only on BlueTube…what’s the deal?
i assumed that one hit on a weekly review wasn’t as beneficial as four or five hits on dailies. maybe i’m wrong.
It’s not an either/or situation. If it’s one to four or five, then you’ll have five or six, if you upload it on both. The more platforms you use, the more people will see it. Simple logic to me.
I’ve noticed, when a popular BlueTube channel lets people know they are on Rumble equally as they promote their BlueTube channel, their subscription totals can as much as double on Rumble. Take Dinesh and Bongino’s numbers. They both have over double the subscribers.
So I don’t think that would be a probable answer. I wonder if it’s a problem with Rumble uploading. Because BW isn’t the only channel that has similar gaps in uploads. Although none have indicated this as a reason yet. Hence why I’m asking.
Bill, another very inciteful video and while I agree with your main premise, I fear that I am very much in agreement with many of the comments already expressed, “that was then, this is now”. “God watches out for drunks, idiots, and the United States of America.” Yes, I agree with you, whether we deserve it or not. However, just as with the “chosen people” in the Old Testament, and I am NOT calling the USA “chosen” in any regard, if people choose a direction that takes them away from God He will eventually allow them their choice, and the inevitable consequences. If the people consistently choose other gods, or as is the case with the USA, IMHO, godlessness, then to quote the line from a very pertinent movie, “so let it be written, so let it be done.”
I fear that even a wartime President will make no difference. It is abundantly clear in the battles fought by the Israelites, and dare I say in the battles / wars fought in more recent history confirms, that when people fight without God on their side the result was / is defeat, and when they fight with God on their side the result was / is victory.
I am also in full agreement with something you have stated many times before, I have been part of the problem. Much of this happened “on my watch.” So now, while I pray for the best, hope for the best, and work, such as I am able, for the best, I believe history, in addition to telling us that it repeats itself, also tells us that there will come a time when God will tell us, “enough is enough”.
“For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” MT 13:15
You bring up an interesting point when you dare say “…in the battles / wars fought in more recent history confirms, that when people fight without God on their side the result was / is defeat, and when they fight with God on their side the result was / is victory.”
It’s an interesting point because, in the present case, there are two sides to that. Certainly, we abandon God at our own peril. However, our attacker, China, has also abandoned God, long ago and more completely than we. So China suffers from the same threat. Then what?
I wouldn’t run ahead with judgement on the chinese people and their relation with God. Most of them work hard all day and create stuff. What then plenty of people in the “morern” world including USA just consume while creating nothing at best and mayhem as baseline.
Again looking at history we can discover that the Turkish empire ruled over the Christian Europe for quite some period. 650 years for Bulgaria. And I’m nt even aware of any blatant sins those folks committed to piss off God, unlike many other supposedly Christians.
We have tha told joke that ends with God asking the complaining fellow: “I sent you a weahther forecast, a helicopter and a guy in a rowboat, HTH are you doing here?”
So yeah, he’s watching out for the USA, and after the major asskicking it gets he’ll note “I sent you Trump, and Gad Saad and Bill Whittle and so many others, WTH…?
If we have to pick a single thing to learn from history, it is that God helps those who help themselves.
And those who learn from the past are doomed to have to explain it to those who don’t
I’m completely baffled on this one. And wonder what substance Bill is smoking there. Also what history did he read.
As the history in the books tells kinda the opposite. Let’s play it out: China grabs Taiwan and possibly some other territories there cuz why not. Then what?
Will biden or harris or whichever moron at helm start a stooting war around there? If we just follow the vector he might even help them settle. So then what to expect? The USA population will stand up in rage? To protect the taiwanians half the globe away? The same population that sits in the armchair and does nothing to proect themselves, at home?
But ok, let’s pretend a war is still pulled some way. Why can we assume it will be a success? After the whole series of fantastic victories in Vietnam, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Syria… Yey, Team America shows the world its power and exports its democracy.
If anything we can safely assume is the the chinese do read history. And see how WW2 worked: all you need to do is stupid stunts like Perl Harbor and you’re dandy.
As of how democracy stands up we also could observe: worked so well for Poland, and Austria, and the Czechs and plenty other mentions who got under the foot. As well as that true gem of France.
IIRC the people who picked up the actual fight were the Russians, protecting their land with everything. And by a mere accident, the Brits, where Churchill took over.
Heil democracy you say? Wouldn’t that make the populous appreciate Churchill’s work? Instead of voting him the hell out the second the war was won?
We, normal people like him exactly for his resolve, he had the choice to win the war xor win the election — and decided to work on the former. Knowing too well the consequences.
For my money, Zuck (as senior FB staffers call him) was making a straightforward business call. He wanted to warm Xi up for FB to access the Chinese market. It helped that the Western zeitgeist was – and is – firmly with China; that meant he could extend the invitation without embarrassment. Xi of course knew all this. He didn’t feel like playing games. He was busy with his own world domination plans.
The USA that fought WW II no longer exists. Its citizens, to a large extent our young, have no idea of what Bill is talking about, have no idea what they have to protect (and why), and are too fat, lazy and pre-occupied to fight effectively.
I’m not so optimistic that America will choose a serious president when it comes to a shooting war. I hope you are right.
I’m not so sure it’s hero-worship. I think it has more to do with virtue-signaling. It gives him a brag story to show how internationally and racially tolerant he is, and how important he is that he “knows” someone of such importance in the world well enough that he named his baby — and that of course also gives him a get-out-of jail free card against the charge of “cultural appropriation”. I see it as basically an egotistical power-play. And if it helps his business, that’s good for him as well.
Now the rest of it, the ignoring of what the Chinese government is doing … I’m with you on that.
Bill Whittle:
You say we will rise up, fight, and prevail against the Chinese just as we did the Germans in World War II. We may rise up. We may fight. But our cause may be far more desperate than you let on.
During World War II, the German Population exceeded 66,000,000 compared with our 132,000,000-plus population. The Chinese PLA is at around 3,200,000 — over TWICE our 1,300,000-plus in uniform. So, we are already starting behind the power curve.
Could we still mobilize and catch up? China has a population of over 1.4 BILLION people compared to our 330 million…who do you think will win the war when it comes to manpower mobilization — when we’re already 2-1/2 laps behind?
And, lest we forget… roughly HALF our Population already sides with the Chinese…as you said “admires” them. The Democrats and the Deep State in this nation LUST to exercise the kind of control The Chinese Communist Party wields. And — if Zuckerberg is any indication — would be willing to grant any manner of favors (up to and including the most perverse favors of a subservient, sexual nature) to hand this nation over to the CCP for the remotest chance to rule the rotting carcass of our once great Republic as puppets.
These people have already demonstrated their capacity to own the Soap Box, corrupt the Jury Box, and steal the Ballot Box… We have only ONE BOX LEFT… and they will come for that, too. Just how well do you think we’ll fair in a conflict abroad when we are embroiled in a domestic civil war the Left seems eager to stoke? And even if it doesn’t (I pray) come down to that, how the hell will we mobilize when the Democrats hold all the power and are ready to don their knee pads at the opportunity to pleasure the Chinese leadership in the same manner that Kamala Harris stimulated her early political career?
And even if we could, we don’t have anymore Pattons or Bradleys, Bill. Our Military Flag Class has been hopelessly compromised…and only those who fit their mold will survive the purges now underway within the ranks.
We are already in the ‘Consolidation Phase” that Yuri Besminov warned about over 40 years ago… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9TviIuXPSE
I hope and pray I am wrong, but we are far too gone. The USA that existed in 1941 no longer exists.
william wallace. maximus meridius. george patton. not anytime soon i’m affraid. k-12 has seen to that.
megan mccain. liz chaney. sue collins. lisa murkowski. mitt the mutt. gov. noem. these aren’t even the d’rats lol. you’re on the money.
great post jw.
Whoever “they” are will get it, one lead slug at a time. There are many who think such language is provocative and futile; but, although I am not a soldier, I strongly believe in Patrick Henry’s mantra, “Give me liberty, or give me death!“
Very good. I think there are a lot more people out there that understand it than we think. Like the biblical prophet that said I’m alone and God revealed that there were hundreds of others out there. There are several video’s on YouTube about officers in the 1930’s that were ordered to do things that would weaker the future allies, some refused, some said yes sir and then delayed the action, some even broke the law to save the future. One in Britain when ordered to destroy weapons spare parts moved them to a barn and reported the job done, paying the scrap cost, then when war was declared he quietly moved them back to the armory’s.
When I listen to Bill’s historical commentary, I never want the video to end. He is too modest to call himself an amateur historian. I will go so far as to assert that he and Victor Davis Hanson would enjoy some wonderful discussions together on a par as equals in their knowledge.
Like many Americans, I am terribly unlearned in the formal facts pertaining to the historical record. However, I read and listen and watch a fair amount of the historical content presented by our host, VDH, Dan Carlin, Jordan Peterson, many authors, and even the knowledge of my fellow BW members, which gives me a sense of the past and how the present and future relates to it. Consequently, it is gratifying to hear my own, though severely inarticulate, understanding echoed back to me by these esteemed historians.
Thanks, Bill, for sharing your knowledge and love of history, and to all who have educated and enlightened me.
You’re far from alone in your appreciation of VDH and Jordan, Lynda. And you sure ain’t inarticulate – while modesty becomes a lady (and all of us), I suspect you wear lightly what is a fair amount of historical knowledge.
Thank you for your kind words. My brain is a sponge for intelligent discourse and knowledge in many areas, but alas, I, unlike so many who post here, cannot do it the justice it deserves. One of my fondest pursuits is listening to the shows here at BW, and a variety of other content creators and then reading the responses, rebuttals and elaborations put forth by the commenters. I throw mine in once in awhile, but my selfish joy is to simply consume and take some pleasure when those I know who are smarter concur with something I believe.
I like the company I keep here.
You’ll like this::https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89Fa9NjDqSQ Good company for us all.
Thank you for the share, Barbara – I like Andrew Klavan a lot and enjoy his movies and books and his show – I hadn’t gotten around to watching this one until now – very good. I really enjoyed listening to Michael Knowles narrate Andrew’s serial podcast Another Kingdom.
Bill, as you mentioned in this piece, there were others besides Churchill who saw the growing threat of Hitler, but were not in a position in life to be listened to. Years ago, Paul Harvey shared an amazing story of one young American who saw back then what Churchill saw. He wanted to share with America this knowledge because he realized the truth was being deliberately hidden, and so he decided to do something about that. This young American eventually became a well-known American politician, and instead of me recounting what this man did, let me share an article from the Los Angeles Times that does a good job of telling this fascinating story. I hope everyone reading this post will read this Times story. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1988-02-14-mn-42699-story.html
Be careful of what you read in the LA Times.
Those who study history are doomed to watch others repeat it…
Depends on which version of “history” we read. If we read the leftist socialist revisionist version well then we should let China win. “Because”……
On the flip side there is a lot of right wing revisionist history especially in our current and past wars. I fully believe the US needs to completely disband, defang, and even incarcerate all of the CIA. They have not only committed many criminal acts, worked to undermine entire democratic foreign governments, but the CIA has literally funded and trained many of the past and current “enemies” that we still fight today. The CIA has no accountability in actions nor in funding controls(black budgets). Ultimate power corrupts and this group has unrestricted power and funds. The CIA was never to operate on US soil, this alone should tell you what kind of tactics they utilize, but now they are openly involved in everything inside the US, including American citizen monitoring/spying. The FBI has become a joke, except they can and will put you in the gulag if you get in their way. Our political leaders actively work against American values, the US Constitution, and citizen rights. The reasons are immaterial, just the fact of undermining should place them into prison for treason and possibly even death penalties for some the acts.
Now the big question becomes, will these same people/departments support or undermine any war efforts if America goes to WW3 with China? Honestly from the past history, it seems likely they will not only actively work against American citizens interests, but instead they will block and even support outside attackers, both financially and physically. Sound crazy? Well for the past several decades China has been attacking the US and instead of these positions of power supporting and even bolstering the US stance they have actively worked to restrict, castrate, restrain, and undermine every single avenue of addressing the attacks. The CIA knows the tactics of infiltration and subversion that China utilizes in America, but instead of helping to stop these attacks they help to hide them. If the CIA didn’t know that many of the Chinese citizens, whom were being brought into work on top secret and dangerously sensitive projects, where actually CCP members as has been uncovered and reported, then everyone in the CIA should be fired for incompetency….
Many of our governmental organizations have been complicit and knowingly weakening the US. Lack of trust in even our election process, forget the people being elected, is a third or even fourth world country type of easily fixed concern.
My point is that it’s hard to fight WW3 when it is likely that the battles will be fought against two different enemies. Those on the front lines fighting to protect the US, and at same time being shot in the back by their own governmental/political organizations behind them.
poignant video. bill’s endless confidence centers around the idea (as fact) that when the time comes, america will put in place a war time president and our military will rise to the occasion. perhaps that is so but i would refer you to the claremont institute (salvo) and j.stone’s article dated 05.06.2021 titled pink shift.
it seems to me bill that americas’ history has yet to be written.
I enjoy reading articles in The American Mind, and made a beeline over there to read the article you mentioned. I believe the hegemony women are near to achieving in American society will be the final straw that breaks this one-of-a-kind country’s back. America was not and is not designed to be squishy, emotionally driven; or compassionate, guilt-ridden and subjective in its relationship with the rest of the world. America came into being built on the steely-eyed cold strength of men with a mission to carve out a place for themselves that embodies the spirit of freedom, resilience and self-reliance. Women certainly have their role as help-metes, advisors and supporters of the men who lead, and that is where they belong, in the home, at the hearth and beside the cradle raising up the next generation, not vying in competition for a role we are not physically, emotionally or mentally equipped to fill. Ayn Rand, regardless of what you think of her writing skills or philosophy, understood the male psyche and admired it, as do I.
Men who are members here are of the type I admire. Men who are builders, doers and makers, as well as thinkers and learners.
Single childless women, women with fatherless children, and acceptance of abortion with no boundaries is anathema to any nation and its people who value and wish to retain its traditions.
Bill alludes to it in his comment that when America rises to fight back against the assault of our enemies, including I hope those within, we will once again enjoy 50 or 60 years of peace and prosperity, before the pendulum swings back again.
P.S. Yes, my name is spelled with a Y on my bc. Now, dispel my curiosity, and tell me why you asked.
hell-a-va post there. lots to digest. salute’. there is simply zero chance that you don’t know why i asked about that y. no way lol.
respects to you/yours. i spent fifty years (now 72) looking for a lady like you and never found her. america needs more of you and less of palosi.
tally ho.
High compliments from you, accompanied by a sincerity I can accept with pride, and deserving a thumbs up from me. Thank you.
I agree with you – America does need more women like me, and I don’t say that out of arrogance or self-aggrandizement. There are a number of women like me on this website and some others that I read, and their voices are like music to my ears. I would count them all as friends – in spirit if not in body.
Now, I always hate to assume, though frequently fall prey to it, often in egregious error, so I will disappoint you and not presume to assume or believe I know why you asked about the “y”. I have my ideas, of course. Like I said, probably way off the mark. Please 🙏save me the humiliation of betraying my ignorance, and reveal the reason behind your curious question.
seems you’ve cornered me and i’m not used to that much anymore. i’ll ponder my next post with prodigious perspicacity.
You’re a sly one, Mr. Welch. Not sure who’s cornered whom. Prodigious perspicacity, eh? I couldn’t ask for more and await with keen interest😉
